You are a rookie detective aptly named Dick. You recently obtained your license and are in the process of setting up your office, but you took out a loan in order to furnish the place, so you need some cash in order to make ends meet. Luckily, you posting a calling card in the supermarket and a female client called you, needing someone to investigate suspicious activity around the local sports stadium. The info was sparse, but the money wired to you in advance was nice. You lie in wait near the parking lot as night falls.
Head: Fedora (+1 on Sleuthing rolls)
Body: Trenchcoat (6 item slots, 2 filled)
Items: Cellphone (contacts: Mom, Mysterious Client), Lighter (can be used to Burn objects)
How it works:
The RP is played freestyle with simple rolls on a d6. You roll versus the challenge, and if your roll+relevant ability score+any conditions is higher than the roll of the challenge, you succeed. In case of a draw or lower, you fail. Three folks can give commands, which will execute in order. How this works in practice:
Person 1-Dick looks around the parking lot into the cars.
Person 2-Dick calls his client to ask for more details.
Person 3-Dick tries to enter the stadium.
GM-Dick searches around the parking lot to see if there is anything of note in the various cars left.
Sleuthing: 3+item 1+roll 2 vs. challenge 1+roll 6=failure
Dick chastises himself for not bringing a flashlight, he can't see anything clearly peering through the windows.
He figures he needs more info about what exactly he is on the lookout for, and calls his client. After a few moments she picks up. You press her for a bit more detail, but she acts very mysterious.
Character: 3+roll 6 vs. challenge 4+roll 2=success
After some pressure, she relents, and tells you you're looking for someone who is possibly stealing outfits from the cheering team. She hangs up and Dick wonders what her problem is.
Dick decides to see if he can actually enter the stadium to lie in wait in the lobby. Dick goes to the door and fiddle with the lock.
Craft 3+roll 1 vs. challenge 2+roll 3=failure
The door is barred, and Dick doesn't want to set of any alarms, so he abandons the plan.
It's all freeform, so first to enter the commands, first serve. Equipment switching takes one command, and item usage also takes one command. The attribute Character corresponds to charisma and willpower, condition to stamina and strength, Sleuthing to perception and intelligence, and Craft to handiness with items, vehicles and machinery. Damage is done directly to relevant attributes, so physical damage lowers your condition, drugging causes damage to Sleuthing, and seduction does damage to Character, making rolls harder. If an attribute is lowered to zero, the character faints, or is enthralled, and so forth. It's all pretty freeform, so let's see where you guys bring the plot.
