| Subject: Midara Mobilization (SimpleRPG, suitable for mass participation) Tue Jan 10, 2017 3:51 pm | |
| Welcome to Midland City. You're a defender of a settlement that's currently being invaded by an army of midaras. The city guard has been defeated quickly, so now the only thing standing in the way of total conquest are random adventurers fighting on their own. Due to these fortunate circumstances, the midara have decided to make a game of it. The first faction of midara to subdue five adventurers without taking any losses themselves wins, and can then plunder and pillage the place to their hearts' content.
The adventurers need to collectively defeat 10 midara in order to drive off the horde. An adventurer's victory adds 1 point to this stack, a defeat deducts one point. Same for the midara factions. Each adventurer starts with 3 Resistance, as does each midara. An adventurer can attack, use a special action, defend or escape. Attack does 1 damage and works according to the SimpleRP rules. Escape means you roll against the midara, and if your roll is equal or lower you fail at it. Midara can also attempt to escape battle. The next time that faction is rolled when a battle starts, the weakened midara appears. Victory grants 1 Resistance point recover, and outside of battle you can attempt to rest, and upon a success you gain 1 Resistance back (never higher than 4). Each subsequent attempt has disadvantage, this resets after you get into another battle.
The midara factions are Angels, Devils, Fairies and Espers. Each faction gets to enter a midara into the game in order, whereafter it's randomized for each new player. A faction cannot have more than 3 midara in the game at once.
You can pick from the following classes:
Inquisitor-Heretic hunters with a seething hatred for midara and those who give in to them. Purging Strike(Passive): Upon a succesful attack, reduce the duration of one of the target's Buffs by one turn. Litany (Once Per Battle): Pick a midara faction at the start of the game. When in battle with a midara from said faction, you may use your turn to launch into a rant against these creatures, and upon a success, the midara leaves the battle in tears. You do not gain any points for ending a battle in this manner.
Psion-Mentally gifted individuals who use their minds to influence the world around them. Knowledge of the Mind (Passive): You have mastery over the mind and thus have an advantage in battle against Espers. At the start of the game, pick one of the following: -Whenever you Defend against an Esper, damage is reduced to 0 instead of halved. -At the start of the battle and then every 3 turns, an Attack against an Esper has Advantage (roll two dice, pick better result). -Whenever you attempt to escape from an Esper, you have Advantage (roll two dice, pick better result). Obliviate (Once Per Battle): Roll, upon a success you remove a Debuff from your character.
Druid-Shepherds of nature, who guard the wilds against destruction and despoiling. Knowledge of the Mind (Passive): You have mastery over nature and thus have an advantage in battle against Fairies. At the start of the game, pick one of the following: -Whenever you Defend against a Fairy, damage is reduced to 0 instead of halved. -At the start of the battle and then every 3 turns, an Attack against a Fairy has Advantage (roll two dice, pick better result). -Whenever you attempt to escape from a Fairy, you have Advantage (roll two dice, pick better result). Binding Vines (Once Per Battle): Upon a success, the target gains the Bound Debuff for 2 turns and cannot take actions (to the target can still dodge). At the start of each turn, the target attempts a roll, and escapes upon a success.
Priest-Messengers of the gods, who guide the people away from error and sin. Knowledge of the Heavens (Passive): You have mastery over the divine and thus have an advantage in battle against Angels. At the start of the game, pick one of the following: -Whenever you Defend against an Angel, damage is reduced to 0 instead of halved. -At the start of the battle and then every 3 turns, an Attack against an Angel has Advantage (roll two dice, pick better result). -Whenever you attempt to escape from an Angel, you have Advantage (roll two dice, pick better result). Divine Intervention (Once Per Battle): Whenever you roll a critical failure, you can activate this ability and turn in into a critical success instead.
Warlock-Dealers in the profane, who commit wicked acts in their quest for power. Knowledge of the Pits (Passive): You have mastery over the darkness and thus have an advantage in battle against Devils. At the start of the game, pick one of the following: -Whenever you Defend against a Devil, damage is reduced to 0 instead of halved. -At the start of the battle and then every 3 turns, an Attack against a Devil has Advantage (roll two dice, pick better result). -Whenever you attempt to escape from a Devil, you have Advantage (roll two dice, pick better result). Dark Pact (Once Per Battle): Upon taking this action, you do 1 damage to both yourself and your target. There is no way for the target to avoid this attack.
Magician-Arcane masters who study the world and whose homes are bursting with books. Lore Master (Passive): You are a quick study and learn by observing your enemies. Upon a victory over an opponent from a faction, pick one of the following: -Whenever you Defend against a midara from said faction, damage is reduced to 0 instead of halved. -At the start of the battle and then every 3 turns, an Attack against a midara from said faction has Advantage (roll two dice, pick better result). -Whenever you attempt to escape from a midara from said faction, you have Advantage (roll two dice, pick better result). Whenever you score a new victory, you can replace this Passive. Trickery (Once Per Battle): Cast a forbidden spell. Roll a d6 and look up the effect. 1-Opponent has advantage on the next attack. 2-Same effect as Binding Vines. 3-Same effect as Slow Poison. 4-Same effect as Litany. 5-Same effect as Switcharoo. 6-Opponent takes 2 damage. There is no way to avoid this attack.
Rogue-Scoundrels who use subterfuge to get by in life. Sneaky (Passive): Whenever you're resting, it takes two attempts before you start having Disadvantage on the roll. Slow Poison (Once Per Battle): Upon a success, you blow a poisonous dart into the opponent. For the rest of the battle, every two turns the opponent takes 1 point of unavoidable damage. This Debuff can be dispelled by other effects, however.
Berserker-Tribal warriors who possess a fiery temper that leaves no foe unharmed. Fearsome (Passive): After a victory, you scare away other potential opponents. You have Advantage on the first attempt to rest. Heavy Cleave (Once Per Battle): You attempt a fierce attack that has Disadvantage, but does 2 points of damage upon a success.
Wrestler-Show fighters who use their physique to overwhelm their enemies. Well-Trained (Passive): You start the game with 4 Resistance, and your cap on the stat is 5 instead of 4. Piledriver (Once Per Battle): You attempt to piledrive the target. Upon a success, you do 2 points of damage. Upon a failure, you take 1 point of damage.
Mimic-Strange creatures with the ability to copy the appearance and abilities of others. Alter Shape (Passive): After a victory, you may choose to change your Once Per Battle ability to that of any other class. It remains this way for the rest of the game. Imitate (Once Per Battle): Upon a success, you copy the Buff of an opponent. The duration is the same as when the Buff first took effect.
Jester-Clowns who aim to entertain the audience with pratfalls and tomfoolery. Oddball (Passive): You do not suffer from the twists and turns of fate. Critical successes are treated as normal successes, and critical failures are treated as normal failures. Switcharoo (Once Per Battle): Upon a success, you switch places with another character currently in battle of your choice. This ability has no effect if no other characters are currently in battle.
Archer-Bowmen with expert aim, who can take their targets out from range. Prone Target (Passive): Whenever an opponent suffers two failures in a row on their attacks, you have Advantage on the next attack. Sharp Senses (Once Per Battle): Upon a success, you can pick the faction of the next opponent you face after a victory or escape. | |

| Lucan, a warlock of some repute, is moving through a marketplace full of overturned carts. He was eager to see the chaos around him, hoping to discover some devil midara for him to bind. To his chagrin, however, a pretty Guardian Angel descended from a nearby rooftop: http://partycity6.scene7.com/is/image/PartyCity/F6370786F_full?scl=1 Her soft voice spoke: "My, a dealer in the dark arts. Mayhaps I can convert you to the light. (You still have to pick a choice from Knowledge of the Pits)
Lucan-3 Res Warlock-Dealers in the profane, who commit wicked acts in their quest for power.
Guardian Angel-Res 3 The lowest sphere of Angels, these midara take men under their wings in the hope of protecting them against loneliness. Safeguard (Passive): Debuffs always fail to take effect when the Guardian Angel is Defending. Barrier (Once Per Battle): Upon a success, a Barrier is created around the Guardian Angel that absorbs any attack of 1 damage or lower. It lasts for 2 turns.
------------ Elsewhere, Bishop was taking the opportunity to rifle through the riches of a merchant's mansion, hoping to escape with some trinkets. However, a Greedy Grabber slipped through the window just as he was looting a bedroom: http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/img-thing?.out=jpg&size=l&tid=22254199 The devil tried to sneak up on Bishop, but the rogue grabbed his weapon and turned, ready to fight. The Grabber said in an amused fashion: "Hmm, what shall I steal from you first? A kiss perhaps?"
Bishop- 3 Res Rogue-Scoundrels who use subterfuge to get by in life.
Greedy Grabber- 3 Res Devils who punish the greedy by giving them a taste of their own medicine. Firm Grip (Passive): If an attack is a success, the Greedy Grabber puts her opponent in a hold. Until she is attacked succesfully, both her and her opponent's attacks have Advantage. Greedy Gobble (Once Per Battle): Upon a success, the opponent's pants are pulled down and the Greedy Grabber puts the opponent's cock in her mouth. All her subsequent attacks do 1.5 damage until she is succesfully attacked herself.
--------- Elsewhere, an archer named King was trying to get his bearings on the situation. He eyed a Fairy trudging through an alley further ahead, and notched an arrow. However, she disappeared in a sudden haze. Mist rolled around the archer, and he heard giggling in his ear. A Dust Fairy quickly revealed herself before moving into the thick clouds again: http://images.halloweencostumes.com/products/5091/1-1/sexy-fairy-costume.jpg She rhymed: "Now you see, now you don't, soon you'll feel me, and you'll be owned."
King-3 Res Archer-Bowmen with expert aim, who can take their targets out from range. Prone Target (Passive): Whenever an opponent suffers two failures in a row on their attacks, you have Advantage on the next attack. Sharp Senses (Once Per Battle): Upon a success, you can pick the faction of the next opponent you face after a victory or escape.
Dust Fairy-3 Res A fairy that lures travellers from the path using her misty magic. Magic Mist (Passive): All attacks on the user have Disadvantage, until the target is succesfully attacked once. Then, the effect disappears. Dreamy Dust (Once Per Battle): Upon a success, the midara blows dust in the face of the opponent, making him Drowsy. The Debuff lasts two turns and makes sure the opponent can only Attack or Defend.
Victory List: Adventurers-0/10 Angels-0/5 Devils-0/5 Fairies-0/5 Espers-0/5

| Shark tossed the enslaved soldiers to the side. Somewhere in the temple there should be a midara controlling them, he guessed. Soon a Dominator appeared from behind a pillar: https://ae01.alicdn.com/kf/HTB1iDftJFXXXXX4XpXXq6xXFXXXb/200D-Latex-Sexy-Bodysuit-Catsuit-Thong-font-b-Body-b-font-font-b-Suits-b-font.jpg She sized her quarry up: "Hmmm, why settle for these weak minions when I can have you instead?"
Shark-3 Res Berserker-Tribal warriors who possess a fiery temper that leaves no foe unharmed. Fearsome (Passive): After a victory, you scare away other potential opponents. You have Advantage on the first attempt to rest. Heavy Cleave (Once Per Battle): You attempt a fierce attack that has Disadvantage, but does 2 points of damage upon a success.
Dominator-3 Res An esper who collects men as her minions. Will Breaker (Passive): Whenever she reduces an opponent's Res to 1, the opponent's power on the next attack is halved. Will Bender (Once Per Battle): Upon a success, the midara does 1 damage and she picks what the opponent does next turn.
------------- (Roll faction=3, a Fairy) Xelor sat in the corner of an abandoned house's living room, trying to quell the mental cacophony of the chaos surrounding him. He heard a sound at the door, and a breathtaking fairy entered the room: http://assets.yandycdn.com/HiRez/CC_01220_TinkerFairy_GardenPixie_01_C2013.jpg "You poor thing! Did you know sex helps against a headache?", she teased. The challenge cleared Xelor's mind and he got ready to fight.
Xelor-3 Res (still have to pick an ability for Knowledge of the Mind) Psion-Mentally gifted individuals who use their minds to influence the world around them.
Fire Fairy-3 Res A fairy that creates will o' wisps to attack. Following Flame (Passive): Whenever an opponent escapes and the Fire Fairy locates the same opponent again, the will o' wisp she used to track him instantly does 1 damage. Fire Dance (Once Per Battle): Upon a success, the midara does a sexy dance illuminated by her wisps. If her opponent succesfully attacks the next turn, he takes 1 point of damage.
------------- (Roll faction=1, an Angel) Jack spotted the Seraph as he was attempting to escape the city: http://www.cosplaysalon.com/media/import/ebay/buzzfashion/H721379B/H721379B_11.jpg "Hmm, I could go for some angel cake right now," he mused out loud. "How about you eat me instead?" the Seraph answered, but Jack seemed to ignore her.
Jack-3 Res Jester-Clowns who aim to entertain the audience with pratfalls and tomfoolery.
Seraph-3 Res A pinkhaired angel that seems indistinguishable from a devil. Repressed Lust (Passive): During the first 3 turns, the Seraph's attacks do 0.5 damage. After that point, all her attacks do 2 damage. Blessed Curse (Once Per Battle): Upon a success, the midara heals 1 point of damage. Upon a failure, the opponent takes 1 point of unavoidable damage.
------------- (faction roll=1, an angel) Joseph was leaving through his tomes to see if it contained any tips on escaping a siege. Sadly, the only thing he found was a book of inspirational quotes about fighting the odds. He decided to do just that as an angel clad in black entered the pub was hiding in: https://costumesupercentre-weblinc.netdna-ssl.com/product_images/womens-sexy-dark-angel-costume/573d427e69702d70de000a90/large_thumb.jpg?c=1467318538 "I will teach you something you can't find in any book, mage", she threatened.
Joseph-3 Res Magician-Arcane masters who study the world and whose homes are bursting with books.
Mourning Angel-3 Res An angel that grieves for those fallen in battle without getting to know her heavenly pleasures. Elegy (Passive): Whenever another midara of the Angel faction is defeated while this midara is in battle, she recovers 1 Res. Sorrows of the Fallen (Once Per Battle): Upon a success, the midara does 1 point of damage for every opponent the target has defeated so far.

| Bishop took his first proper look at the newcomer, and immediately formed three opinions.
The first: "She's definitely not a copper with get-up like that, and I doubt that she lives here (Yay!)."
The second: "She's probably some kind of demon-witch-cat burglar and she's looking at me rather... intensely (Yay...? File that Yay under Undecided for now, brain.)."
And third: "She's blocking the door, so it's either fight, make an opening and run or jump out the window... assuming you don't mind bleeding to death on broken glass after falling two storeys (Fuck. Put her down fast, grab the bag and bolt for the tradesman's entrance in the kitchen downstairs, then.)."
"Bloody hell, miss, you can't go sneaking up on a man like that! It's not good for my heart. Or yours, for that matter. Sorry in advance."
With that, he clenched his free hand and flicked his wrist, causing a small blowpipe to fall from his sleeve into his open palm. Quickly passing it up to his mouth, he grabbed a dart from his belt, loaded up and aimed a shot right at the girl's centre of mass.

| Joseph studies the angel with fascination. "Hmm... you're certainly an interesting specimen. I've never seen an angel with physical features like yours in my studies. Granted, there's not much written about angels, but..." Noticing that his mind wandered back to his studies, as it usually does, he returns his attention to the woman in front of him. "I apologize. I suppose this is part where we engage in combat? I'm more of a scholar, but I don't have a choice in the matter, do I?"

The fog in his mind temporarily dissipating, breathed a small sigh of relief and stood to his full height of 5'10, turning to face his aggressor. The upper half of his face remained concealed partially behind a black hood, as well as the dimness of the house. This hid wary grey irides, which now flashed with an unseen warning.
"Yes well, somehow I doubt that. I don't know who you are or how you found me but please just leave me be."
To emphasize this, he swung out his arm in a warding-off manner, accidentally sending with it a blast of concussive psychic force. The house groaned in protest, the floorboards warping as the energy crossed the space between them.
"Dammit, see!? I did not mean- I apologize. But please, leave this place!"

Lucan looks at the angel with mild amusement "To be honest my dear you wouldn't be the first to try, but it very much isn't likely, sorry to disappoint" Lucan begins to approach the angel "However, I very much doubt that telling you this will convince you to leave me be so I guess we may as well have at it" Lucan releases a quick blast of eldritch power, sending a white bolt of energy shooting towards the angel (Normal attack)
