Webber Vs Nui

-The old ruleset applies: the rolls are 1 to 100 even rolls are a success, uneven rolls are a failure.
-Characters are allowed 1 free action, but must otherwise stick to their movepools.
-Instead of VIRTUE and VICE, the adventurers have WILLPOWER and the midara have STAMINA.

Paralyzed Status- Character will be unable to move next turn and will be unable to dodge the next attack

Charmed Status- The next attack dealt by the midara does +1 Willpower damage

Bind Status- Character will be unable to move and continually suffer 2 Willpower damage each turn unless they roll a 50 or higher and escape

Dazed Status- Character must roll two successes instead of one in order to hit


Even rolls higher than 85 are considered critical and allows the attacker to follow up with another move

Odd rolls lower than 14 are critical failures, allowing the opponent's next attack to be a guaranteed success


Webber and Nui start with 30 stamina/willpower. However, Webber suffers a -4 reduction to this to have a spider accompany him, starting him with 26 Willpower.

Personally, Webber thought Humans going anywhere near the woods in this day and age was an awful idea. Monsters, wild animals, all of the sort of thing that they just didn’t tend to get along with. Besides, he’d probably be in a village himself instead, if he had the choice. But, you play the cards that you’ve been dealt, whether that means being a spider or not.

So, he was more confused than anything as he watched a woman in bright pink, walk, no, stroll down a seedy path through the forest. He just.. Couldn’t wrap his head around it! Shouldn’t self-preservation kick in somewhere there? There was a pretty good reason he didn’t usually see many people just come through here.

An audible hissing disturbed his thought as he was forced to acknowledge that a fellow spider had also seen her.
“Hey, hey, quiet! We’re trying to.. Observe!”
Webber began to struggle with it, trying to keep it quiet, much to the opposite effect.

Nui hummed a little tune to herself. She was in a particularly good mood, having recently heard about an increase in 'sales' to the Amazons. It seemed that her pet was doing a good job, not that she expected any less from her. She heard the sound of hissing coming from nearby, followed by movement. How strange. Most animals knew better than to interrupt her when she was humming. Perhaps this one needed some education. Though she was curious as to who or what had decided to watch her. Not that she could blame them for that, she was adorable after all.

"Hmmmm......~?" Nui finished her humming, posing a question in the direction of the hissing. It was pretty dark, so she had some difficulty making out the figure.

Realising that the woman had stopped humming, he hastily released the spider, narrowing his many eyes at it.
“S-see what you did?!”
Looking over at the stranger, he stared back from the darkness for a few moments, thinking over his options. He could try to scuttle off, but he figured that was off the table, courtesy of his friend, who clearly didn’t understand the word ’Quiet’. Or any other words, actually.

He threw a couple ideas around his head. She could always be some sort of monster-slayer that would slice him in half. The thought made him shudder, but he had to keep the possibilities open. After all, eye patches were rad enough for that sort of thing, from what he gathered.

What’s life without a little fun, though? He’d probably look pretty spooky, as per usual. Then maybe she’d run off! And hopefully not come back later with a hunting party...! Not his greatest idea, but he had been standing there for at least 30 seconds by then, and it was getting a little tense. Shuffling himself into view, Webber examined her closely with all eight of his eyes.
“...Hello!”

Nui turned as the strange figure stood forward. A brave one, perfect. She hated it when they ran. Well, sometimes. Sometimes the chase made it more fun. But the ones who stepped forwards usually had a little more... fight in them.

Though he did seem a little... different. Certainly not a conventional hero type, but clearly not a midara either. This warrented further investigation.
"Hello cutie~" She responded to the strange spidery person. "And who, or perhaps I should ask what, might you be?" She asked, putting on an overly cute and innocent voice. She had difficulty deciding which set of eyes to keep contact with, so started shifting between them.

This was not the... Expected reaction. She even called him cute! It was like she was excited to see him! It made a nice change of pace.
And, it was pretty reassuring that he hadn’t been sliced in half. Maybe he’d just been overthinking it.

“...We are-“
Using his foot, Webber gently pushed his Spider companion away, after having it take up a defensive stance under him.
“We’re Webber. And we’re a... Erm..” He paused, unsure on how to answer. Calling himself ‘Spider person’ was.. Dumb. And he was decently sure calling himself ‘The indigestible’ would need a little more explanation than he was willing to give.
“A Spider... Yes, a.. An Xiphoid Spider!”
Webber had no idea what that word meant, but it sounded pretty believable.

“Who are you?” A grin was forming on his face. He’d forgotten has much fun talking to strangers was.

Nui giggled.
"Aren't you a little tall to be a spider?" Nui asked, a slightly teasing tone in her voice. "As for me, oh, I'm just the local seamstress from the town over. She responded, as she began to lean on suddenly materialising letters spelling out her name.

NUI HARIME.

“Eheh.. We suppose we’re a bit above the average spider’s height.” He sheepish replied, giving a small smile.

Webber’s eyes widedened at the letters seemingly appearing from thin air.
“What?”
He poked at them, trying to make sure he wasn’t just seeing things, to the shocking realisation that that did just happen.
“Is that just a... seamstress thing..?”
Webber looked around to see if he had his own set of letters that he’d missed while introducing himself, eventually just shrugging it off.

“Well, it’s nice to meet you!” Webber declared, unintentionally extending one too many arms for a handshake.

The letters seems to disappear with a *poof* as Webber went to touch them. Seeing that he was reaching out with multiple hands, But giggled, and instead of shaking them, placed a high five on each of them with a single swing.

"But of course, silly. Any seamstress worth her silk can do that." Nui responded. "You know, I've always liked spiders. They build big beautiful webs and wrap prey up in them until their prey can no longer escape the silken embrace." She commented, placing a finger on her chin as she thought. "It's not all that different from what I do, when you think about it."

“Ooh, ‘Silken embrace’ is a good way to put it!” Webber lit up at her, his smile widening into a grin as he nodded at her. “Spiders are the best..”

Although, he was a little off put by her last comment. She had seemed almost.. Too nice to make such a comparison. That, and he wasn’t too sure what she meant by that. He didn’t really think that the clothing industry was much to do with trapping people, but then again, he wasn’t all that knowledgable in the way of metaphors.

“Erm... What do you mean?”

Nui caught herself getting lost in her own thoughts.
"Oh, you know, making an outfit that feels and looks so good that a person neeeeever wants to take it off." Nui responded, with a grin. "You'd be amazed at what pleasure something as simple as a new outfit could bring." Nui looked Webber up and down. "I could show you, if you'd like?"

“You would?” Webber replied, the offer taking him by surprise.
“We doubt we would be the easiest person to tailor for...” Webber heeded, his additional appendages twitching ever so slightly.

“We would like that, though! But, we, uh, wouldn’t be able to pay you.” Webber gave a small frown. “Spiders don’t get hired too often.” Webber gave a forced chuckle, but he thought it was just a little tragic.

"Oh, don't worry about that. I've always wanted a pet spider. I'm sure I could let you work it off~" Nui giggled, a gleam of something less innocent than previously shining through.

Webber snorted in laughter, slightly caught off guard by the idea. His “better half” took it as a threat, but he ignored it for the time being.
Right now, he was just glad Spiders couldn’t blush.
“Pfft..” He tried to quickly move on. “D-do you need our height, or anything?” He asked, a small flushed smile still tugging on his lips. “...We think we’re a small, if that helps.”

Nui giggled.
"What I'm going to make for you will be specially tailored to fit. The best stuff always is." She commented, pulling out a measuring tape. "What I'll need is to take your measurements. But I'll need you to hold still, mkay?" Nui asked, before moving in.

(Is Nui going to get to start attacking before the battle even begins? :O)

“Oh, alright..” Webber responded, straightening his back out. He took a moment to consider how... Odd this was. He’d barely known this Woman for... Five minutes, and she was about to tailor him some clothes. But another part of him pushed that notion aside. Spiders were no fun to talk to. And they probably couldn’t make clothes, either. But she was different! She likes spiders! She was a seamstress! She didn’t speak in unintelligible screeches! Quality bestie material.

His more spidery half couldn’t disagree more, but Webber continued to ignore it. It’s not like they didn’t talk all the time, anyway...

"Alright then, hold still cutie~" Nui giggled, as she began to measure Webber, her hands caressing him gently as she did, skilfully and 'accidently' passing over his erogenous zones, sending waves of pleasure into him.

Webber responded to the attention with a stifled eep, some of his hairs briefly standing up as Nui went about ‘throughly’ measuring him, attracting the attention of his Spider companion. It wasn’t exactly adept in its knowledge of human interaction (even with how hard Webber had tried to teach it), but it recognised whatever was happening there as an attack on a fellow Spider, scuttling over and throwing itself at Nui, ready to attack.

Nui noticed something darting out of the darkness, and quickly took a step back.

"You really should learn to control your pets better. If you like, I could show you a few ways to ensure compliance~" Nui giggled, seemingly not to worried by the spider. She'd gotten what she needed to start Webber on the path to becoming her new pet.

“What’d you think you’re doing?!”
Webber quickly scooped the spider up, frowning at it.
“S-sorry about that... But they’re not really pets. They’re wild animals, really. We wouldn’t take that away from them for anything.” He smirked, giving the spider a noogie with a free arm.

“Besides, they’ve got a lot going on in there. You’d be surprised how much a spider has to say.” Webber explained, referencing himself.

“But, anyway... Do we meet you again in a week? How does tailoring take? We can only imagine the trouble, with the extra arm holes and whatnot..”

Nui giggled.
"I can get it made for you in a matter of minutes. Not even, if I really focus." Nui responded. "Any particular colour?"

“Wait, seriously?” Webber has surprised at the revelation. Was he in the presence of some sort of prodigy? Or at least, he assumed so. Maybe they were all this good. He hadn’t had many in-depth conversations with seamstresses before, come to think of it.

“Could you make it in... Hm.. Red?”

Nui was finding it difficult to hold back her laughter. This fool was buying everything she was selling. Sure, his pet may have pegged her true intentions, but that didn't matter if he was too foolish to listen to it.
"Of course! I'll use some of my special red fiber then!" Nui commented, as she expertly began to stitch up an outfit entirely out of Life fibers. It was not long before he was finished with it.

"Tada! Well, want to try it on?" She asked, her grin growing. The outfit was clearly well made, had a spider motif to it, and seemed perfectly sized for Webber, arms and all. Just one more step, and it would be the beginning of the end of his independence.

Webber gave a small clap, clearly impressed with the outfit, especially considering it was made in a matter of minutes.

“We’d love to!” he enthusiastically replied, quickly going to put the clothes on. The idea of wearing anything luxurious had become worryingly foreign to him.

Slipping everything on, it was a comfortable fit, as well as a stylish one. yet... Something was off about it. It looked fine. It felt fine. But there was something strangely constricting about it. He could certainly breathe, move around, of course. But he felt like something was pushing against him, moving around him. It reminded him of being eaten. He didn’t like.
He went to take it off, only to be met with surprsing resistance fighting against him.

“Hey, Nui, h-how do you get this off?” He asked almost frantically as he tugged at the collar.

Nui giggled.
"Take it off? Why would you want to do something silly like that? Don't you liiiiike it~?" Nui asked, as power began to flow into Webber, along with the feeling that maybe he'd be better off if he just submitted to Nui. After all, she'd been so nice as to provide him with a free suit.

“Yes, yes, i-it’s nice, but.. We don’t want to be rude, but...” Webber’s thought became blurry, jumbled. On one hand, this was a nice suit, and Nui was a nice person. He was just being weir-

Webber’s train of thought was only broken by the hissing of his spider companion. As he looked down at it, a new thought began to surface. He had to concentrate to keep it in mind. His many darted repeatedly between it and Nui, then back to the outfit, before all eight of them narrowed.
He put a hand against his head.

It was starting to make sense to him. The spider didn’t think she was prey. He thought she was a predator. She seemed nice enough, but he noticed little.. out of place things she’d said. Contrasts to her little cutesy demeanour. And now, this. This outfit. It wasn’t normal. And now, after putting it on, he was thinking about.. Submitting. He wasn’t the best judge of character, clearly, but he wasn’t an idiot.

“...You people are all the same, aren’t you?! You all just want to stomp us out!” Webber was clearly betrayed by his sudden revelation, feeling moronic for not seeing this coming.

He picked up his friend. This was now war.
