Nix Empty
PostSubject: Nix   Nix EmptyMon Feb 20, 2023 10:43 pm

Description
Nix is a young man of an average build and height with short unkempt white hair, blue eyes and wears red-rimmed glasses. His attire consists of a dark gray turtleneck shirt, an unzipped grayish-blue jacket, light gray slacks with rolled up leggings, navy blue socks and grayish-blue and white sneakers. He carries with him a brown tome with a bronze clasp.

Nix is best described as an unfortunate prodigy. Coming from a lineage of mages, it was all set in stone that Nix would become one himself, and he showed the signs that he could become the best one in the family yet. From a young age, Nix demonstrated a great aptitude for all varieties of magic, an exceptional intelligence, a knack for memorizing the formulas and components of spells, anything and everything that would be a solid backbone to making an outstanding mage, everything but one very important thing, his mana reservoirs. Compared to all his other aspects, Nix’s mana reservoirs weren’t just lacking, but were abnormally low compared to even the common folk who hadn’t had any magical training, and they showed no signs of improving over the years. This means that while he has the making of a great magician, he can only cast the most basic of spells without needing to charge up his mana.

With the handicap of his mana reservoirs and an aptitude for all other things a mage could want, Nix got into the thing most wizards do, studying and experimenting, a lot of studying and experimenting. Since everything else came almost naturally to him, Nix's studying focused on how to work around the limitation of his mana and nearly found the answer straight away, efficiency. His lacking reservoirs wouldn't be so much of a hindrance if he could cast every spell with minimal mana usage while also having the most potent effect the spell could muster. With that train of thought, his studying and experimentation began, and with time his spellcasting abilities improved, but it wasn't enough for Nix. Then one day, something dawned him. Whenever he casted a spell, there was always some lingering magic in the area no matter how efficient he got at casting, and after he casted a spell he'd need to charge up his mana for the next spell, but what if he could use this lingering magic, those magical remnants, the unwanted side effect of his spells, to aid in charging up his mana. This was a concept he had never saw any studies on, but in practice he found it to be effective, but that was only in practice. Nix needed to test it out in real world scenarios, so for the first time in his life, he headed out to explore the lands of this world, bound to meet midara for the first time in his life as well.

Passive(s)
• Charge Up
A core concept in all mages is charging up one’s mana when their reservoirs are low, but that is different for Nix. With his naturally low reservoirs of mana, Nix has to charge up his mana for almost every spell besides the most basic of them.
- All of Nix’s spells have charge up turns, which determine how many turns must pass after the spell is declared before the roll for the spell’s success is made.
- Getting damaged does not interrupt Nix’s charging, but being inflicted with a status that impair his ability to take actions, such as Stunned, Fascinated, Bound, etc., do.

• Magical Remnant
In his studies, Nix had an epiphany. It is known that most spells aren’t completely efficient, and therefore they leave lingering bits of mana in the surrounding area. Nix theorized that while he couldn't increase the efficiency of his spells much more than he already has, he could increase the efficiency of his casting time by using the lingering mana in addition to his own mana.
- Nix starts with 0 stacks of Remnant.
- Thanks to an magic orb created Ryza, Nix has a way of passively collecting remnant. At the end of each turn, Nix gains 0.25 stacks of Remnant.
- His spells grant him stacks of Remnant, regardless if they were a success or failure.
- Full stacks of Remnant are automatically used up when a spell has a charge up time, each stack lessening the time by a single turn.

• Tome of Spell Storing
To further the efficiency of his spellcraft, Nix began to carry around a tome filled with blank pages which he could create glyphs on to store spells for later use. Due to the mana cost of both creating a glyph and casting a spell into it, this isn’t something Nix could do on his own, but with the help of magical remnants, it became an easier task.
- At the end of a battle, with any remaining stacks of Remnant Nix has, he can store spells within glyphs in his tome.
- Only spells with a charge up turns greater than 0 can be stored, and it costs 2 times the amount of charge up turn of the spell.
- Spells stored within the tome can be cast at any time as long as Nix has the tome on him.
- Spells cast this way have a charge up turns of 0.
Stored Spells:

• Wand of Amplification
After meeting, fighting, and commissions magic items from the world's best alchemist, Nix's tome had an alteration made to it. Now, if he was to apply mana to it, it can shift into a wand.
- As an free action on his turn, Nix can spend 1 stack of Remnant to change from his Tome of Spell Storing to this form. This action doesn't require any rolls.
- When in this form, all of Nix's spells have an addition or amplified effects.
- In addition, all of Nix's spells cost an addition 0.5 Charge Up to cast. Since there aren't half turns, this 0.5 Charge Up cost must come from Remnant, else the Nix's wand turns back into his tome as the additional cost of the spell.

Actions
• Book Bash
When worse comes to worse, whether that means Nix doesn’t have time to charge up a spell or that he can’t perform magic currently for some reason, he has one backup option, the hefty tome he carries with him. Even behind the strength of a mage, getting knocked in the head with it could leave many seeing stars.
- Effects: 1 Damage, Chance to Daze

• Magic Blast
The text book attack when it comes to using magic, a straight forward blast of mana. This is one of the few spells that Nix can manage without needing to charge up his mana afterwards or before.
- Charge Up: 0 Turn(s)
- Effects: 1 Damage, 1 Stack of Remnant
- Effects (Wand Activated): 2 Damage, 1.25 Stack of Remnant

• Multi Magic Blast
What's better than one blast? Two blasts! With a bit of charging up his mana, or using lingering magic in the area, Nix can pull off two blasts of his mana back to back.
- Charge Up: 1 Turn(s)
- Effects: Attacks Twice, 1 Damage, 0.5 Stacks of Remnant
- Effects (Wand Activated): Attacks Trice, 1 Damage, 0.75 Stack of Remnant

• Cleanse
A simple spell to purge Nix of ailments. Originally, it was to deal with the side effects of spells during his experimentation and studying, but turns out it works just as well with the ailments that midara commonly inflict.
- Charge Up: 1 Turn(s)
- Effects: Removes All Debuffs, 0.5 Stacks of Remnant
- Effects (Wand Activated): Removes All Debuffs, 0.5 Stacks of Remnant + 1 Stack of Remnant for every Debuff Removed

• Renewal
Having a healing spell is always useful when it comes to an arsenal of spells. After a bit of experimentation, Nix has found the precise amount of mana to put into the spell in order to get the best cost to healing ratio.
- Charge Up: 2 Turn(s)
- Effects: Restore 5 Willpower, 1 Stack of Remnant
- Effects (Wand Activated): Restores 7 Willpower, Defense Up for 2 Turns, 1 Stack of Remnant

• Sentry Orb
One of the first things Nix tried when he grasped at the idea of magical remnants was creating a magic sphere to automatically collect it for him, but it did not work out as he wished. He did however make what was the equivalent of a floating turret which used remnants as ammo.
- Charge Up: 2 Turn(s)
- Effects: Apply Sentry Orb (S. Orb) to Nix
  - If Nix has 0.5 or more stacks of Remnant at the beginning of a turn, spend 0.5 stacks of Remnant to
  do a 1 Damage attack.
  - If Nix has 0.25 stacks of Remnant or less at the end of a turn, remove S. Orb from Nix and gain 1 stack of
   Remnant.
  - Can be dispelled earlier through methods such as Nix willingly doing so, becoming silenced, etc, but
Nix still gains 1 stack of Remnant if this is done.
- Effects (Wand Activated): Apply Advanced Sentry Orb (AS. Orb) to Nix
  - If Nix has 0.75 or more stacks of Remnant at the beginning of a turn, spend 0.75 stacks of Remnant
to do a 1 Damage attack that always has advantage.
  - If Nix has 0.5 stacks of Remnant or less at the end of a turn, remove AS. Orb from Nix and gain 1 stack of
  Remnant.
  - Can be dispelled earlier through methods such as Nix willingly doing so, becoming silenced, etc, but
Nix still gains 1 stack of Remnant if this is done.

• Guided Bolt
Forming his mana into the shape of an arrow, Nix fires it at an opponent, with the mana construct seeming to home in and follow them. If he was able to maintain his mana better, it would be a certain hit whenever casted, but with him limited mana reservoirs, if an opponent is able to avoid it for a little it will harmlessly disperse.
- Charge Up: 2 Turn(s)
- Effects: 2 Damage, Always Has Advantage, 1 Stack of Remnant
- Effects (Wand Activated): 2 Damage, Always Hits, 1 Stack of Remnant

• Fireball
An oldie and a goodie, one of the most classic spells a mage can perform. It is only for this nostalgia around the spell that Nix has made it one in his base arsenal.
- Charge Up: 3 Turn(s)
- Effects: 3 Damage, 1.5 Stacks of Remnant
- Effects (Wand Activated): 4 Damage, Chance to Down, 1.5 Stacks of Remnant

• Mana Feedback
One of the best things that came from Nix’s natural low mana reservoirs and his studies of how to make his use of mana as efficient as it can be is the great understanding of how mana flows through one’s body. With a bit of his mana, Nix temporarily alters how the mana flows through his opponent, causing slight discomfort but also making their mana completely inefficient for use.
- Charge Up: 3 Turn(s)
- Effects: 1 Damage, Silence for 3 Turns, 1.5 Stacks of Remnant
- Effects (Wand Activated): 1 Damage, Silence for 3 Turns, Paralyzed for 1 Turn, 1.5 Stacks of Remnant

• Tesla Cage
Nix quickly conjures up multiple metal pillars around his opponent before firing some electricity at them, creating a makeshift electric fence around his opponent, stopping them from moving around and attacking him.
- Charge Up: 3 Turn(s)
- Effects: Independent Bind, Lasts 3 Turns, 1.5 Stacks of Remnant
  - There is no struggling out of this bind, but those trapped can willingly walk through the electricity to
escape early in exchange for taking 2 Damage.
- Effects (Wand Activated): Strong Independent Bind, Lasts 3 Turns, Deals 2 Damage per Turn, 1.5 Stacks of Remnant
  - This bind can be struggled from

• Surging Strength
Due to being a mage and devoting most of his time to his studies, Nix isn’t the symbol of pure strength, something he doesn’t mind, but there are times when he needs to be stronger than he is. It is in those times when Nix does the only thing he knows to do, uses magic to solve the issue. Due to the magic being used inside of him, no lingering mana appears in the area.
- Charge Up: 3 Turn(s)
- Effects: Automatically Breaks Binds
- Effects (Wand Activated): Automatically Breaks Bind, Applies Reserved Strength
- Reserved Strength: Nix has advantage on next struggle attempt or deals +1 damage and always dazes on next use of Book Bash

• Grand Explosion
Gathering up all the mana that he can muster, Nix unleashes a pure explosion of mana that encompasses the area surrounding him. Not only does this deal damage to those close by to him, but ironically, the inefficiency of a huge explosion causes a ton of magic to linger around, meaning that his next charging of mana would be more efficient.
- Charge Up: 4 Turn(s)
- Effects: 3 Damage, Targets All Opponents Individually, 2 Stacks of Remnant
- Effects (Wand Activated): 4 Damage, Targets All Opponents Together, Has Advantage, 2 Stacks of Remnant

• Etc.
Nix has a seemingly endless arsenal of spells at his disposal, but due to factors ranging from requiring too much mana to cast, precise conditions needing to be met to cast, or spells being straight up not useful, he doesn’t use them. However, occasionally he’ll break out some of the spells if he is in a spot where he has a practical use for it.
- Charge Up: ? Turn(s)
- Effects: ?
- Charge Up Turns and Effects are proposed on use, with the DM being free to alter them as they see fit or deny the proposed spell, skipping Nix’s turn if they do so.
Etc. Actions:

Weakness(es)

• Lipstick
After his first encounter with a midara, Sasha, and her breaking his will to resist just by repeatedly showing off her lips and applying lipstick to them, along with the following night of more of that and her actually kissing him, Nix now finds himself struggling to look away whenever he sees a woman applying lipstick.
- Actions that involve applying lipstick hypnotize Nix

• Thighs
After a drawn out battle with Ryza, then himself and the master alchemist, mainly the alchemist, getting put into a lust driven crazy after some food was accidently spiked with an aphrodisiac, Nix found a new obsession with using a good pair of thighs as pillows.
- Actions that involve the contact of a thigh against Nix's face has a chance to hypnotize him
