Jack, the spellcrafter

My last character was a spell caster from a mage college, and I thought it might be fun to expound upon that idea a bit. Figured there’d be different majors, so why not explore them?

Jack was nothing shy of eccentric. After learning that glyphs were his preferred method of casting, he wasted no time in experimenting. By combining the glyphs with singular spell effects, you could make even more complex and powerful magics. Unfortunately, after nearly blowing up his dorm room one too many times, he was forbidden from experimenting inside the walls of his college. So he’d elected to experiment outside, somewhere away from people. He found a cave about a mile away from campus that he thought would be perfect. Unfortunately for him, he was too absorbed in his project to notice that the denizen of the cave had much different plans for him. After a very…draining afternoon, he stepped out of the cave shuddering, covered in lipstick and crippled by both a chilling terror and an extreme fetish for kissing.

Appearance: Jack had an average frame for a male of his size, albeit a touch on the thin side. Still waiting on that late stage growth spurt, he stands at an imposing five foot six inches. With shaggy brown hair, and wide eyes to match, he isn’t exactly what people would call intimidating. Unlike most mages, he didn't like the stuffy baggy robes, opting instead for a simple shirt and loose fitting pants, with a bag that held all of his parchment, stencils, and ink.

Move list:

Jacks attacks are all born from glyphs. The simple ones only take one turn to draw and cast, but the more complex ones take longer, with the strongest spells taking three turns to draw. While he’s drawing he’s vulnerable to attacks, and his enemies roll with advantage, if they already have advantage they autohit.

Basic glyphs:

Fire - activating this glyph allows the user to manifest a flame in whatever way their mind can project it. Be it a fireball, a pillar, a jet of flame, etc. deals 2 stamina damage.

Ice - this glyph allows its user to make constructs out of ice. Depending on its use, can be used as either a weapon or a trap, to terrain more difficult to traverse. Deals 1 stamina damage, on a crit inflicts off balance

Plant - using this glyph, its user can summon vines, flowers, and other flora to constrain his enemies, as their leafy appendages wrap around his target. Deals no damage, But inflicts bind.

Light - This glyph, is as simple as it sounds, activating it produces a small ball of light that the caster can wield, or, create a flash of light that can blind those that see it. Deals no damage but inflicts stunned

Intermediate Glyphs: All take one turn to draw and one turn to cast

Lightning - By using a fire glyph as the base, and combining it with two light glyphs, a jolt of electricity can be sent from the glyph to a target in an instant. Deals 3 stamina damage, on a crit inflicts stunned.

Shield - By combining two light glyphs, with an ice glyph base, the user can coat themselves in a temporary armor. It lasts for one turn, or absorbs one hit, whichever occurs first. On a crit success, it absorbs two hits, or lasts two turns.

Complex Glyphs: All take two turns to draw, and one turn to cast.

Heal: Drawing out a complicated arrangement of light and plant glyphs allows the user to effectively cure the maladies that are ailing them. Wounds close, and a refreshing feeling washes over the target. On a success, restores 3 WP.

Blast: A complex mix of all four glyphs results in a shockwave emanating around the user. On a success, all enemies take 4 stamina damage. On a fail, the shock is inverted, and the user instead takes the damage.

First pc in a while. Balancing was never a strength of mine so lemme know if he seems to overpowered or weak.
