for the PC version click on releases and for the mobile version look at the description for instructions
after starting the applications you'll need a backend
that's where chatgpt comes in through the chatgpt page you'll need to get the openai API which is easily accessible by making an account then going to this page

once you have the api copy-paste it into tavernAI


you can make it work on tavernAI unfortunately my PC only has 8GB of vram so the webui method didn't work for me

we can use pygmallionAI which is designed for roleplay
but chatgpt is fairly cheap if you use the api you only pay for usage, I pay like a dollar or two a month
the video I linked is GPT4-x-Alpaca which is free and can be installed on your PC

I use chatgpt with tavernai because it gives the best results imo

the $20 a month thing is for a different service and not the api usage thing we need

there actually is stuff like that but I have not looked into it

maybe through stable diffusion you can do that but that requires more work on your end because it was designed for still images

you can try this and even use it with the chat AI that I mentioned above if you like

my setup right now is
stable diffusion and silly extras running on my PC as a listen server to produce images
then I have silly tavern on my phone using openai API

I access everything through my phone and silly tavern costs me like less than $5 a month

this month I've only generated $3 worth of text
highest month was $7

I've set my budget to $15 a month
but image generation through stable diffusion is free
