The cupid war -hiatus-

(I still intend to continue the rift, this is just an idea I had for a somewhat valentines inspired open rp)

The demons of cupid have long been a threat to your land, but until now they attacked stealthily, converting small hamlets to their cause through infiltration and seduction.  Now, their armies march upon your capital,  while the main force of your defences have met with them on the road leading to the city.  Your unit has been sent to cover a side passage in a canyon, to prevent any cupidians slipping past your main force


Rules basically follow the same rules as the other open RPS, successful actions on either side gain either Love(for the cupidian) or Valour for the human defence

(For the record I'm basing a fair few of the cupidian off leagues Heatseeker/sweetheart skins visually at least). Here is a sample profile for an enemy featured

Cupids archer

Description:  the cupidian forces have many archetypes of temptress within their ranks, these marksman often provide the back line in large scale fights, but their abilities potent enough for her to take part in smaller skirmishes against adventurers happily.

Abilities

Dazzling arrow

The archer takes aim, firing a heart tipped arrow at an opponent.  Upon connection, a strong feeling of arousal surges through them, as soon as a struck hero lays his eyes on any cupidian fighter(usually instantly, in battle). They become too stunned by their beauty. Adds Love and has a high chance to stun

Sniper smooch

foregoing her bow, the archer leans forward on one leg and blows her target a kiss, a rush of pink surges towards them, charming on impact

Rose tipped arrow

The archer fires an arrow tipped with a red rose at a female adventurer, it pierces her heart, causing her to feel much more seductive than before.  Heart pierced heroines have a 30% chance per turn to turn on their companions, attempting to seduce them rather than attack the cupidians.  This effect ends after they attack 2 allies, or after 5 turns have passed

Double rose tipped shots

Firing at a male and female party member, on connection the two instantly feel an unnatural attraction to each other, forgetting the battle in favour if kissing.  The passionate adventurers lock lips, binding each other, increasing Love by one each per turn.  They have a 50 chance per turn to snap out of it, once they have they won't add love, but theyll still be bound until their party member snaps out of it or they roll a 30% escape chance, which will instantly cure their ally


Close combat moves from the archers are simple, involving love building kisses and attempting to stick their targets with arrows by hand

(More or slightly differing moves may be used but this is just to give an idea of the sort of things you'll be up against)


Your squad arrives in the canyon, the tall clif faces surrounding you mean you shouldn't be flanked easily.  As you take in your surroundings, a heart tipped arrow whizzes into the ground, in the centre of your group.  From the other side of the canyon two gorgeous cupidians enter, both with sleek, white blonde hair, although one has it cut short, falling just shy of shoulder length, framing her enchanting face, and the other wears it long, allowing it to fall in silky waterfalls to the middle of her back.  The long haired cupidian holds a bow, her companion, a bright pink sword

Name: Zeal
Age: 20
Class: Psychic
Weapon: None (can create fire strong psychokinetic bursts)
Appearance: He has dark skin and shaggy white hair, wearing a baggy pair of pants and a sleeveless robe.
Personality: Lazy undecisive, making it easy for him to lose focus

Backstory: Zeal was raised among a group of powerful psychics and was naturally gifted at birth as being an exceptional psychic. However due to his natural ability he was unwilling to learn the actual displine of being a psychic and was constantly bemoaned for being lazy and unfocused, eventually being kicked out. He now wanders the earth trying to gain a reputation as a great psychic in order to get back at them, but his general attitude towards effort has made a lengthy quest.

Zeal fires off a blast of psychokinetic energy, (70) both cupidians were caught off guard and the blast sent them stumbling. The archer recovered her balance and maintained her vantage point, but the swordswoman fell into the canyon that the human resistance stood in. She manages to land gracefully however, and turns on zeal

She leans forward, lifting one leg up and blowing a kiss to zeal, winking as she does so (14) a pink heart flows forth from her lips and zeal is momentarily too distracted by her beauty and demeanour to dodge. The heart pops on contract with his cheek, causing him to blush as a light feeling washes over him, and a pink heart shaped mark appears on his cheek.

Zeal feels light as the heart hits his cheek and he tries to shake off his embarrassment as he tries firing another blast at the other cupid.

Name: Ray
Class: Fighter (dual daggers)
Weapon: Dual daggers
Appearance: Short black hair, muscular, and dashing smile. Something of a model, but wears a mask to cover his face

Backstory: Ray was born with good looks and so his fighting was never taken seriously. Since he was a kid he tried to make people notice his combat experience but they paid more attention to his looks. He continued training and left the land since everyone saw him for his attractiveness and not his personality. Now he wears a mask so people won't know who he is and will take his fighting seriously.

Ray jumps in to join zeal. "Yo man, a few pretty girls shouldn't give you this much trouble!" before going in to stab the archer

Name: Vincent
Class: Wrestler
Weapon: close-range wrestling, with devastating grapples and powerful punches and kicks

Appearance:weighing 400 lbs and standing slightly over 7 feet His massive frame is almost entirely covered in scars, having bold head he wears a simple red wrestling trunks along with red wrestling boots and a cape

Personality: Headstrong Determined but a bit simple and not very smart

Backstory: The hero wrestler is the protector of the weak and idol of the children everywhere. he managed to weaponize his body by his intense almost inhuman training

he enters the fray by performing a flying body press from the top of the cliff into the enemy with the sword while screaming "MEGATON DROP!!!!!!!"

Name: Seb
Class: Ranger
Weapon: Home-made oak longbow, with a survival knife for CQC.

Appearance: About 6'3", fair-skinned and unexpectedly bulky in build for an archer, with most of his muscle definition manifesting in his arms- and they'd have to be strong, to get any decent draw on a bow like the one he's toting. His hair's been shaved down to little more than a stubble the colour of old straw, and a couple of smears of eye-black mark his face just under his bright green eyes.

His attire is simple, yet sensible for an outdoors lifestyle- a gambeson covering his upper body, with the sleeve covering his drawing arm rolled halfway up, along with a simple pair of hosen-style trousers and soft, knee-high leather boots garbing his lower half.

Personality: Terse and somewhat asocial, but he knows and respects skill in others when he sees it.

Backstory: Born a commoner, Seb grew up living on the fringes of the law- not for money, nor thrills, but simply to keep himself fed in a time of both war and a seemingly perpetual state of near-famine. Seeing opportunity in the woods outside town where others saw bandits and Cupid scouting parties, he slowly and painstakingly trained himself in the ways of the huntsman.

There were hiccups in the learning process, naturally, and he picked up the marks to show for it, but for a while, he was comfortable with his lot. He hunted. He ate. He trained. It may have been a shallow life, but to his mind, a boring day-to-day was preferable to an exciting one-time opportunity to starve to death.

But a while is just that- a while. And nothing good lasts. Eventually, he got caught by a midnight patrol with a brace of pheasants slung over his shoulder and, after a prompt journey to the local lord's castle dungeons (along with "accidentally falling down the stairs" a couple of times on the way, according to his captors), he was offered a choice.

Conscription, or freedom- after having his hands chopped off.

That was a couple of years ago, and while he's still bitter about the nature of his recruitment, part of him knows that it was his own fault that he got caught, and that just made him resolve to get even better at his work. And besides, it could be worse- he's still doing what he's been doing since he was fifteen, except now he's getting paid, fed and the odd medal from time to time (he never wears them, though. Too shiny).

He just wishes that he wouldn't hesitate so much to shoot at targets that don't have wings or move on all fours. But shoot he does- after all, he's still alive, isn't he?

Seb does a quick recon of the situation from the vantage point he's taken on one of the small ridges jutting out from the walls of rock on either side of him, prepping his bow for the first draw and release.

Granted, this so-called "high ground" would take all of three seconds for one of the attackers to climb up if they got close enough, but he could at least shoot over his allies' heads without incurring friendly fire.

Taking a deep breath as he nocks an arrow (broadheads he'd whittled this morning- granted, he'd needed to requisition the arrowheads, but he was otherwise proud of his ability to be nigh self-sufficient for ammo), he waits for the moment that his targets are focusing on the others more than him, then lines up a shot at one of the enemy archer's legs, hoping to knock her down into the valley with her friend so that his cohorts can deal with her more easily.

Draw.
Exhale.
Release.
Pray.

Zeal recovers from his momentary lapse of focus, and fires another blast of energy at the archer(45) though the force from the psi attack splinters the rock she was standing on, the archer gracefully pirouettes to a Safer vantage point, zeal notices the heart arrow lodged in the floor from before has begun to swell


Seb nocks an arrow and takes aim, he fires upon the archer, who was still focused on Zeal. (60). His aim is true however and the arrow finds its mark in the Cupidians thigh. She tumbles into the canyon, now no longer protected from the melee combatants in the ground. (32). As Seb watches his target fall, the swordswoman manages to get the drop on him, she closes the distance between the two and locks eyes with him. Her beautiful intense distracts zeal for a second, long enough for her to Jab him with her glowing pink blade. No physical harm is done, but Seb feels a wash of relaxation flow through him, and begins to feel an appreciation for the swordswoman beauty.

Ray moves in to capitalise on the archers fall, running in to stab her with his daggers. (19). The archers cupidian healing has already closed the wound in her leg, and she manages to twirl out of the way of Rays attack. She follows up on Rays moment of confusion by pulling an arrow from her quiver and (86) brings it down into his back. He turns to face his opponent, but as soon as he does the effects of the arrow take hold, and he finds himself momentarily transfixed by her beauty(50% chance to be stunned next turn and not act)

Seeing Seb in need of assistance, Vincent goes for a signature move of his, he leaps at her, letting loose a triumphant cry of "Megaton Drop!" (4) He lands as intended, sending the cupidian crashing to the ground, obviously hurt. (52) however she manages to wrap her legs around his waist. Holding him down with her

As the battle continues, the shadow of a gorgeous female can be seen approaching the canyon from the cupidian side.

(I'm tempted to join, but the double love arrow makes me think twice, since as always I'll be using a female character, and that means I have to kiss a guy lol xD

Edit: eh, I'll just create an androgynous male character. Yes, you read it right, it's a trap.

Name: Ayden Krisch
Class: Hired scout/spy
Weapon: Blowpipe, dagger, assortment of traps
Personality: Collected, calm, and confident. But can put up any act if needed.
Appearance: small and feminine stature of 5'1", easily mistaken girl face, shoulder-length pale silver straight hair. His clothing consists of a hooded cape on top of black tight suit with belts of pouches to keep his darts and traps.

Backstory: no one know how Ayden became a scout for hire, but everyone who know him knows that he's damn good at his job. If one is lucky enough to able to get in touch with him, they can consider their job's done. No matter what and where it is, Ayden never failed to retrieve the vital information the client needed, or even carrying an assassination mission. Sometimes, he also used his feminine looks and demeanor to his advantages, often catching the targets off guard with his feminine looks and demeanor.

That is though, the story when his target are humans and their settlement. Today, he's againts the Cupidians, and his old tricks may not work against them.

Kinks/weaknesses: Loving, caring, tender touch; compelling and inviting moves, boob hug, kissess.

Arriving at scene in a stealthy manner, Ayden observes the battlefield first with his binocular to determine the enemies and situation. The flow of battle is not looking good on the warriors though, and he also notices that another soldier of the cupids is approaching.

He decides to wait it out for some time more until the said enemy come into clearer view while preparing some drug-laced darts to fire. (Action: fires a dart when the target comes into a view)

Zeal briefly growls at missing his target and then notices the swelling arrow next to him. He's not sure what that's about but it's giving him a bad vibe. He picks up the arrow and tries seeing if he can use a bit of telekinesis to send it back the archer's way before it goes off.

"Shit." Ray rips the arrow out of his back and goes again to attack the archer, hoping that he won't fall for her charms

Shaking off the surprisingly Zen-like sensation the Cupid's weapon inflicted, Seb takes a couple of steps back to try and get his bearings again as soon as he's made sure he has not, in fact, been stabbed with a doped-up blade and is merely being super-chilled about bleeding to death all over the canyon floor.

Okay, that was... weird. Where'd she g- oh, FUCK me sideways.

His train of thought derailed at both the sight of his rescuer being straddled by the swordswoman and the undeniably female shape approaching from the Cupid-held end of the valley, Seb realises that he has to help cut the existing numbers down to size fast.

Besides, he owes Crazy Wrestler Bloke one.

Whipping out his Bowie knife, he rushes over to Vincent's melee and moves to grab his attacker by the back of her neck, planning to line up a quick stab with her heart before dragging her off his Mexican compadre.

Name: Enoch

Class: Thief

Items: wooden baton, small explosives that emit a loud bang and bright flash, not good for combat, but great for distractions, other items to aid in screwing with his enemies.

Personality: Quiet.

Appearance: Short black hair, dark hooded cloak, and a bandana around his neck, used as a mask sometimes.

Backstory: Having no memory of a family, Enoch has had to steal from others to survive from a young age. He has an incredible talent for what he does however. Having trained his body and mind to be incredibly agile and have razor quick reflexes. He is remarkably good at his craft, almost never turning to violence, and instead always finding a way to escape unseen. He has stolen all his life, barely ever detected. Escaping capture numerous times. Getting captured once. Trying to steal one too many times from some shady people he should not have been messing with. And that's when his captors gave him a choice: put his talents to good use in the army, or die. Who knows why? But death is not to be taken lightly, for him, or anyone else.

Waiting in the shadows for a good opportunity to strike, runs at the cupidian archer (who is hopefully distracted by making out with an "ally") to attempt to take her arrows, leaving her defenseless.

(Just a heads up I have started writing the next turn, it just may take a while to finish depending how tired I am when I finally get home over the next couple of days)

Ayden

Ayden sneaks into the battlefield (50) and manages to go unnoticed by the Cupidians. He prepares his darts and prepares to fire
overwatch (all midara actions this turn are preceded by a roll, if its even theyre spotted and Ayden takes a reactive shot with a 50% hit chance(evens) taking one shot does not mean he can't take another but each midara can only be overwatched once per turn


From the cupidian side of the canyon enters a new combatant, she wears a long dress that would be modest if not for how well it exposed her generous cleavage, she had long flowing blonde hair tied in twin tails and held a harp

(Ov 21) though Ayden could see her, he knew from this distance he couldn't get a clear shot

She laughs musically and speaks, her voice projecting effortlessly round the canyon for all to hear.
"So much violence, how about a little love song?" (20). She begins to strum on her harp, playing a beautiful melody (every human rolls this turn, on an odd number they are enchanted by the music and fail their action, adding 1 to love)

(52) the music fails to penetrate Zeals ears

(94) Zeal uses his power to pull the arrow from the ground, he sends it hurtling towards the archer, and just before it hits her it explodes into an enormous pink heart, which floats straight into the archer. Of course, this bring cupidian magic, has no negative effect on her, but it certainly saved Zeal from a huge hypnotic effect, boosting his morale

(41) As Ray pulls the arrow out, the harp graces his eardrums, the melody relaxers him and he forgets all about attacking the archer

(34). The archer smiles at the entranced Ray and simply slowly leans in and kisses him on the cheek, in his already addled state it's enough to make his heart race

(2) he manages to pull the swordswomans head in fast enough for him to pull off a fairly vicious headbutt, even from a position where he himself couldn't generate much momentum. Vincent feels strangely proud as she staggers to her feet, having been sent a good distance from him

(Ov) 36 Seeing an opportunity Ayden takes aim and fires a dart, (68). It lands in the girls shoulder and the drugs take effect (this turn and next evens up to twenty still fail)

Surprised by the dart, the swordswoman ignores Vincent

Enoch runs in and grabs the archers quiver, she notices this however, as she was merely watching an enchanted Ray rather than anything more distracting, she whips around and grabs Enoch by the hood, as he's turning to run off, but she pulls him round to face her. She calmly takes the quiver and places it back over her shoulder "tut tut little thief, but I guess since you're okay with stealing, you'll have no objections to me stealing a kiss?" Enoch is still too shocked by the fact that she caught him to react as she leans in and presses her lips to his, kissing him deeply.

She pulls away, "and of course my dear, I'll also have to steal your heart" she p says, quickly jabbing him in the chest with a heart arrow, causing him to hug her tightly, overwhelmed by unnatural feelings of affection

(Hint: The musicians a very powerful foe if left to her own devices, however once attacked she will engage in single combat with her attacker, while duelling she won't be able to have such a strong effect on the party)

A cupidian event will happen next turn

Seeing that the others seem to be "preoccupied" with the archers, Zeal decides it might be a good idea to aim for the musician girl next since there's no telling what she could do. He fires off a psychic bolt in her direction.

Ayden had a good start, the cupids haven't discovered his location yet, though, he noticed that the swordswoman is aware of his presence and is in on a lookout on him. Having no intention of giving away his location, Ayden slowly moves away from his current location, looking for a higher grounds to better assess the situation and better angle to aim.

The cupids' effects on Ray right now are pretty strong. It's hard for him to fight off his male instinct, so Ray comes up with a pretty reckless (but brave in his head) idea instead. He calls out as loudly as he can, "Hey ladies! Come get a piece of me! I'm willing and ready to have a good time!"

He hopes this plan will at least distract a few of the cupidians so that the others can recover and/or form a counterattack.

"Hey miss im fighting with ya its not a good idea to take your eyes of me!" Vincent Charges in to perform his signature move the Russian suplex

Halfway to his target, Seb stops dead in his tracks as the valley is filled with the sound of ethereal song. His grip on the knife slackening a little, he looks around for the source, and-

She's beautiful.

He takes a step in the musician's direction, all thoughts of battle draining away.

She's a better person than you'll ever be.

Another step. There's a faint paff as his knife finally slips from his grasp and lands in the dry, sandy dirt at his feet.

She's EVERYTH-

His footsteps falter. For a moment he seems to drift off, as though something has left him for a minute so that it can take a proper look at him. And if the lolling tongue, glassy stare and barely visible bulge downstairs are anything to go by, it seems to realise that intervention is required.

Coming back to himself for a moment, Seb uses the brief seconds of control to give himself an almighty whack across the face. "Come on, get it together! You're better than getting mind raped by some tart with a glorified banjo!"

Snatching up his knife from its resting place, he decides to back up and prepare a shot at the musician's harp. Maybe if he can sever some of the strings with his next arrow, he can take some of the bite out of her attacks.

Emotions unfelt for ages, suddenly surfacing... wait, that's not how it works!

No, clear your head, this is a battlefield. I can't be captured like this.

Enoch attempts to clear his head, and get clear of the fight to recompose himself.

Name: Weston Zheng

Age: 21

Personality: Disciplined, though he struggles with the urge to try and show off sometimes. Playful/Cocky at the beginning of a fight, but will begin to ground himself if he see's it being dragged out.

Weapon: Long Tonfas, Wind-Attribute-Aura, Fists/Feet

Appearance: Weston stands at an above average 6'ft with lightly tanned skin and a lean muscled build. His haircolor is black and rather unkempt; short-medium length hair that sometimes covers his grey-bluish eyes. Weston wears a white-buttoned black changshan and matching black pants. On his feat he wears a pair of black rubber-soled martial arts slippers.

Backstory: Weston was trained from a young age in various martial arts, though he ended up taking up connecting to the forms of the tonfa than any other. In addition to this, he was trained to connect with and control his own wind-attributed-aura, eventually being able to use it offensively as well as defensively through reinforcement and projection. He was taught in a small, yet close knit dojo run by his grandfather, who swore only to teach those who sought mastery of the arts for the discipline and peace of mind it brought with it. He kept his word and turned away glory-seekers and malcontent individuals, always seeming to know which was which from a single glance. His father was a rather simple man, running a general store in that same village. His mother ended up passing away a few years after his birth, but her mark was clearly made on him.

His Grandfather was the first to note it; the yearning for exploration and acknowledgement, that dramatic flair. In time he grew to be the star pupil of the dojo, earning titles akin to the swift forces of the wind, though this was nothing to brag about in the eyes of his master. It was these same things that led to his inevitable leaving of the dojo and the village. For some time now he has traveled, meeting new places and people, fighting and overcoming various obstacles that arose against him. He does his best to uphold the teachings of his grandfather- to remain disciplined and humble through all trials. Doesn't mean he couldn't have fun sometimes though, right?

Entrance: As the bewitching melody echoed though the canyon-taking it's toll on the present defenders, a figure attempted to around the rabble swiftly taking advantage of chaos of battle(and hoping it to keep focus off of him) as he headed towards the vixen playing the harp with fingers firmly pressed against his ears and tonfas at the ready. In his head he plotted out the maneuver with a note of pride, planning to get the literal jump on her from behind with an aura reinforced kick.
