| Subject: Andrew Ryse, swordsman of questionable skill Sun Apr 22, 2018 6:17 pm | |
| Name: Andrew Ryse Race: Human Age: 18
Appearance: Standing at 5’4, he falls just short of average height. He has brown, slightly unkempt bedhead-esque hair with matching eyes, and sports a loosely fitting and cheap looking set of leather armour clearly bought second hand.
Bio: Previously living a simple village life as a worker on his father’s farm, Andrew spent the majority of his time wishing for more, envious of his brother, who spent his lifetime defending the small village from threats he had only heard mere whispers of, Midra. Monsters, as far as he was concerned. He longed for his days to be overcome with adventure, action, and loot. Just something... Exciting. Something other than farming. He wanted people to look at him, and instead of thinking “Oh, hey, he pulls carrots”, they would praise him as the noble swordsman he knew he (probably) could be!
And eventually, he got exactly what he wanted His brother, after being humiliated in battle by midira, threw down his arms, vowing never to fight again, leaving his soldiers without orders. His job was of course, handed down to his one capable kin, Andrew. ...Who knew nothing about fighting. Or swords. Or adventure. But what mattered was that they thought he did, and to uphold he newfound dignity, he marched out in hunt of fame, fortune, and adventure, leaving the town under the defence of about 12 of his brother’s trainees and a few, maybe 3 capable swordsmen... Without orders or a leader...
They’d probably be fine.
Personality: Having barely explored outside his village walls, Ryse is unfamiliar with the world outside, although still understands society as he knows it, simple. Thus, he is unnaturally naive and unfamiliar with the rest of the world, and at that, it’s people. Despite this, he tries to maintain the facade of a brave warrior, whilst admittedly terrible at using a sword or weapons in general. This leads to him using his “own methods”, becoming defensive if they’re questioned. After extensive teasing from his older brother, he’s also developed a defensiveness about his own intellect.
Moves:
Passive: Beginner’s luck - rolling 1 is considered a critical for him and all allies Flail wildly - Andrew slashes around blindly, hoping to land a hit. Does 2 damage. Heavy chop - Using the incredible forces of gravity, Andrew heaves the sword behind him, before bringing it down for 6 damage. This attack needs to windup for one turn (but can still fail), leaving Andrew open. Receiving damage will cancel the attack Jab - Holding the sword up strainingly, he drives it forward toward the enemy , dealing 3 damage Spin - Hurling himself around with the momentum of his sword, he spins with surprisingly speed at the enemy. 4 damage, but cannot be used again for 2 turns Slash - Mustering up all his strength, Ryse throws an actual slash with his sword for 4 damage, but leaving him exhausted for a turn, and unable to attack.
“You know, I used to be a general of this villa... Army. I was in command of what, fiftee.. Fifty people! So, I’ll probably manage out there. Don’t worry about it.”

| So in other words: Andrew is some common guy that that is given a sword without "Heroes for Dummies" manual. That's going to be entertaining. | |

| I'll give you props for not trying to make a character who is badass out the gate. There are a lot of powerful peeps in the RP forum already xD

| I agree with the sentiment. This can make for highly entertaining occurrences and it'd be interesting to see how he develops. Sort of reminds me of the protagonist of Shadow Of The Colossus who also clearly has no idea what he's doing with a sword. | |
