Morven, Brigand Chief

Appearance: Morven stands at 5 feet 10 inches at height. His build could be described as athletic; lean with a noticeable muscle tone. His hair is black and disheveled, his eyes are a dark green color, and his skin has a fair tone. He wears roughly studded leather armor with gloves and boots with a bear fur cloak, complete with a hood that he usually keeps down.

Description: Though the Midara have threatened humanity for a long time, the threat of their fellow man has existed longer still, as highwayman, bandits, and other ne'er-do-wells still assault and pillage to this day. Morven was once a hardened mercenary serving to fight for a greater cause, but the fall of the lord he once served saw him left with neither coin nor purpose. As fighting was all he knew, he turned to banditry, a profession that would surely make great use of his skills.

In time, he congregated with many like-minded lawless individuals to lead one of the many brigand groups to plague the realm. Be their targets man or midara, where the glint of gold lied, so to would the brigand's sights be set.

Passive:

Commanding Presence - Wherever Morven goes, his group of brigands is sure to follow. Morven will begin the battle accompanied by two other brigands and one Brigand Artillery with a Brigand Matchman. A maximum of three other brigands can be on the field with him at any given time (though this can be adjusted as needed). The brigands will make their actions on the same turn as Morven. The brigands are fiercely loyal to their leader and cannot be swayed to join the enemy's side by any means.

Once 6 turns have passed, a Brigand Strongarm will replace a brigand on the field (with the exception of the Brigand Artillery.) This will also happen automatically once Morven's HP drops at or below 15.

If Morven is defeated, the remaining brigands will keep fighting until they fall or until the Brigand Artillery is the last thing standing on their side of the field. Additionally, if there are no Strongarms on the field, one will take Morven's place. In either case, the Strongarms will have an upgraded version of their passive. They may also use Fire In The Hole! at this point.

Abilities:

Reinforcements - Morven calls in his companions to replenish the ranks. Brigands will appear to fill up the maximum allowed on the field. The type that will appear is determined by a dice roll. The only exception is the Brigand Matchman, who will always spawn if there is not already a Matchman on the field. See the brigands list for further details.

Rally - Morven incites his companions to push their limits, giving them a benefit during the battle. The effect is determined by a dice roll as follows:
  • Roll 1-30: All brigands have advantage on their next 3 attack rolls (best of two rolls.)
  • Roll 31-60: Brigands gain an additional 2 points of damage on their next successful attack.
  • Roll 61-89: Damage received by the next attack that lands on a brigand will do half as much damage (rounded down).
  • Roll 90-100: All previous effects will be applied at once.

Rally does not affect the Brigand Artillery.

Handcannon Shot - Self explanatory. Morven takes a shot with his handcannon. 3 Damage.

Point Blank Shot - Can only be used if an opponent has used some action that has them within close proximity of Morven. He takes a shot at his opponent at point blank range. The attack rolls with advantage due to the close quarters. 5 damage and will knock the target prone. Target's knocked prone must spend their action getting back up.

Reload - The handcannon may take six shots before it must be reloaded and that's what this ability covers.

Chop - Morven swings his handaxe at his opponent. 4 stamina damage and causes Bleeding for 3 turns, doing 2 stamina damage per turn.

Cut Them Down! - Morven orders the Brigands to focus on particular enemies. Inflicts the target with Marked. While marked, attacks made against the target have advantage and a successful attack will inflict double damage. Secondary effects will always activate on marked targets. The Marked effect will end once two successful attacks have landed on the target. Effects up to two enemies, but can increase depending on the number of enemies on the field.

Morven's brigands consist of multiple individuals of various backgrounds and skills. When Reinforcements is used, several dice rolls occur for the amount of brigands that can arrive. The number that results from each roll determines what brigand will appear. All Brigands have 10 HP unless otherwise stated. The list is as follows:

Brigand Hunter (1-20)
A melee fighter, wielding two blades and the skill to use them well.

Open Vein - The swordsman thrusts their blade forward, driving it into the opponents flesh to tear open a wound. 2 stamina damage and inflicts Bleeding, causing the target to suffer 2 stamina damage at the start of their turn for 3 turns.

Dual Slice - An attack with both blades. Rolls two dice. Each success inflicts 3 stamina damage.

Feint - Taking a defensive stance, the swordsman anticipates their opponenet's moves. If the enemy's next attack hits, they'll take half the damage and ignore any secondary effects from the move. If it misses, they will immediately counter, dealing as much damage (in stamina) as the attack that was made against him.

Brigand Marksman (21-40)
Armed with a rifle, the marksman provides cover fire for the brigand group.

Rifle Shot - Self explanatory. 3 Stamina Damage.

Cripple - The marksman takes a shot aimed at the legs or whatever other appendage allows them to stand. Does 2 stamina damage and if the opponents next ability roll is less than 50, it will automatically fail. If the opponent has wings or some other method of flight that can be physically shot, they will be knocked to the ground.

Take Aim - The marksman focuses their sights on a single opponent. If they are not hit by an attack on the enemy's turn (any enemy, if there is more than one present), their next attack is guaranteed to hit and will do +2 damage.

Reload - The rifle holds 8 rounds before it muse be reloaded.

Brigand Pyro (41 - 60)
A demolitionist specializing in using bombs against the opposition.

Bomb Toss - The pyro hurls a bomb at an enemy's feet. It will then explode at the start of next turn, doing 4 points of stamina damage to all enemies.

Fire Bomb - The pyro tosses a bomb filled with black powder, which produces a fiery explosion upon impact. 3 points of stamina damage to all enemies. A second roll for each enemy is made to determine if the targets are set ablaze, doing 2 points of stamina damage at the start of the enemy's turn unless they spend their action to extinguish the flames.

Flash Powder - The pyro takes a special powder from a satchel and throws it at a target. While it does no damage, it inflicts Blind on the enemy for 3 turns.

Brigand Arcanist - (61-80)
Studying a field of magic involving geometric techniques to make symbols of arcane power, the arcanist serves as one of the sources of magical power for the group.

Ruin - A spell that throws harmful energies at the target. 3 Stamina Damage.

Miasma - A toxic spell that introduces poison into the target's bloodstream. Does 2 stamina damage per turn for 5 turns.

Shadow Flare - A spell that envelops the enemy's side of the field in magicked shadows. Does 2 stamina damage to all enemies. If the roll made is 50 or higher, also inflicts Blind on enemies for 2 turns.

Physick - The arcanist concentrates for one turn and then uses restorative magicks on an ally. If they are not hit by an attack during the concentration turn, a target ally will be healed by 4 HP.

Brigand Strongarm - (81-100)
One of the stronger, better equipped, and well trained members of the band. Various in backgrounds and skills, these brigands are formidable opponents in their own right.

Brigand Artillery
A siege weapon refurbished for the purposes of field combat. It will always be brought in at the start of any conflict the brigands take part in. Has 30 HP by default.

Passive:
War Machine - The Brigand Artillery takes absolutely no damage from charming/sexual abilities, or any other abilities that damage a target's willpower (for obvious reasons.) The cannon is also robustly built and takes half as much damage (rounded down) from attacks and will not suffer from any negative status or condition. However, the cannon has no form of evasion and any attack aimed at it will always hit. Finally, the cannon cannot act on its own and must be operated by the Brigand Matchman. The matchman has a base HP of 10.

Fire In The Hole! - The matchman lights the fuse of the cannon, allowing it to fire. This move has a universal cooldown of 3 turns.

Ka-BOOM!!! - The only attack the Brigand Artillery can make. Immediately used after Fire In The Hole! is activated. The cannon fires a large cannonball upon targets, dealing a devastating 10 damage to all enemies on the field. The roll used for this attack does not have critical successes or failures and if the roll is 25 or below, the cannon will misfire, causing nothing to happen.

NICE.

Might need some nerfing if he has the ability to call in backup, though. Just a thought.

Put it information for the artillery. I'm not sure how I want to handle the strongarms. I kind of want to make them a little more unique than just a powerful brigand; maybe make separate named brigands for who the strongarm could be when the dice rolls for them.

Made changes to Morven's passive and merged Sharpen Blade's effects into Chop by default. Gave him Cut Them Down! to replace it. Also buffed the existing Brigand's a bit.
Still working on the Strongarms. Trying to decide the best way to post them while making it easier to navigate to them apart from combing this thread for their individual posts.
