Bio:A one-off product of a now long defunct, scarcely known company, "
Aperture Science Laboratories"; The Oracle Turret was a less-than thought through adaptation of a pre-existing product of Aperture, the "
Sentry Turret", a military-grade consumer product designed for home security. However, the uncanny ability to sound so impiously innocent while gunning would-be home invaders down wasn't taken well by the general public. After an unsuccessful launch, the entire line was cancelled, putting all existing Sentry turrets, including the Oracle Turret, on an indefinite hiatus in storage.
This unfortunate situation was relieved when a particularly malevolent AI flooded the underground facilities with deadly Neurotoxin, the turrets finding purpose under the rule of this newfound mechanical overlord.
Oracle, with the gift of mobility lacked by his counterparts, was assigned to observation of surface activity.
Enthralled by human civilization, he spends his days scouring the surface, keenly watching what would generally be considered normal day-to-day life as if it were first contact with some obscure alien race. Going out of his way to learn more about society, he’s also taken to invasive means, having a general disregard for privacy throughout his
”investigation” of human life.
Abilties:Passive:
Defective turret”So, we’re all supposed to be blind? Not just me?”Oracle brings along a turret that rolled off the line unfinished on what usually turns into a suicide mission.
After 3 turns, it will overheat and explode, dealing 3 unavoidable damage on top of Oracle’s attack. However, if it receives any damage before 3 turns have passed, it will simply shut down without violently exploding, instead going out with a less exciting bang of a much smaller, controlled explosion.
60% More bullet:A conspicuous Gatling gun materializes on Oracle’s shoulder, the question of where he was keeping it being long forgotten after realizing
that’s a Gatling gun.Due to a few oversights into how guns work, Oracle fires the entire bullet, casing and all, through a spring loaded piston system. The gun equivalent of a mechanical slingshot. Despite the non-lethality, it still hurts.
Roll 7 dice, each success dealing 1 damage.
Paradoxical:Oracle goes against all his many warnings, Oracle starts spouting contradictions, confusing the enemy into a stun. Auto-hit, only useable once per battle.
Part Five:Waiting for the target close in, Oracle switches to a more offensive mode of attack, firing a hail of “bullets” at the enemy.
This attack only hits if the opponent’s attack fails. Deals 5 damage.
Zero-point Energy Field Manipulator:Oracle reveals a strange, orange glowing device, pointing it at the opponent. If charged, it will fire an unusual bolt of electricity that sends the target scrambling to the ground. Takes a turn to charge, can be interrupted. Deals 6 damage.
Overheat:Oracle overclocks himself, the overworking of his system setting both him and the opponent on fire with a sudden eruption of heat that ignites everything it comes to contact with.
Being on fire deals 2 damage per turn, and a turn must be spent to extinguish the flames (No roll required).
Vent:In an attempt to extinguish the fire, Oracle has an emergency cooling protocol engaged, venting out heat and flames in all directions like some kind of magma fountain.
Can only be used while Oracle is on fire.
If successful, Extinguishes Oracle and lights the opponent on fire.
Idiot Sphere:”Hello!”An unusually chipper spherical robot that is literally designed to come up with a constant stream of terrible ideas.
Attempts to be help the opponent, but
really doesn’t.Distracting them with his overall unusable advice, he’s hard to hate for genuinely trying to help.
Deals 2 damage. Makes the opponent’s next two attacks require two rolls to be successful.
Recycling:Oracle throws a piece of scrap at the opponent, dealing 4 damage.
System Maintenance:Tucking a few exposed wirings away, and tightening up a few screws, Oracle reaffirms he is not defective.
Restores 5 willpower.
