“There have been men and women vanishing from towns nearby your estate. The large amount of midara here suggests that this is the most likely place. If you know anything please tell me.” he said nicely. He didn’t like that she felt like she heard his name before.

"At least you're being polite." Amata noted as she stood up. As she elegantly walked toward him she began to explain. "While there are definitely a lot of midara who live, most do not leave the grounds of the manor. Most of our 'guests' are people who attempt to overcome us for one reason or another."

"And what did you think of that?" Amata asked before she kissed his forehead. A pulse of magic went threw his head and all of the fetishes he had picked up on his journey disappear. "Tell me your honest opinion."

"Oh?" Amata asked as a hint of recognition flashed in her eyes. "And how would you like to spend your time here?"

"Other girls?" Amata asked quietly. The pieces were starting to fall into place, but she had to make certain. "Salos, your mother wouldn't happen to be named Melinda, would she?"

“Oh crap.” he said as he seemed to snap out of his trance. “Yes it is.” he said quietly.

Amata couldn't help but laugh and a sound akin to wind chimes filled the room. "To think, her runaway son would come to me asked to be tried like a girl in my home.

As her laughter died down, her blue eyes gave Salos an evaluating look as an oppressive aura of power filled the room.

"You've peaked my interest, Son of Passion. Show me what you're capable of." she ordered.

Salos summoned his bow of flames and aimed at her.

The arrow struck her in the heart, but Amata showed zero reaction to the hit. Even as her dress lightly caught fire, she just continued to stare at Salos.

Maybe it was from Amata's intense aura, or maybe it was case of performance anxiety; either way, Salos blacked out before his power could be unleashed.


Salos woke up on Amata's bed, with the Lady of manor looking down on him with an unamused expression.

(Salos has been defeated!)

“Damn it. My charge backfired.” he said, feeling like a failure.

"That was... disappointing." Amata admitted. "I very much expected more from Melinda's son. Give me a reason I shouldn't send you straight home."

“Please. I can’t go back to her. She is heartless and hurts countless people. I promised my master that I would get stronger.” he said, begging the mother of the mansion.

"And?" Amata asked, clearly not thinking that argument was enough.

“Please. I will do anything if you don’t send me home to my mother.” he said, now on his knees before her.
