Nir pulls out his scythe and the Devotee splutters a last curse: "I'll*koff*come back, just you wait!"
Her body begins to float and glow, and in a blinding flash, she's gone, only her bloody and torn outfit remaining. A bright ball of light floats in the place where she just shoot, before speeding out of a window, shattering the glass. The burly man drops his club and begins wailing like a baby about his mistress leaving. Nir and Oliver, meanwhile, focus on getting their friend and the other thug basic first aid. As the dust settles, multiple men working on the idols downstairs wake up from the Devotee's charm magic. They're dazed and confused, but over the course of an hour their thoughts become more coherent. One of them turns to be an acolyte of the church, and instantly grabs a horse to fetch the church representative again.
The adventurers stay the night, and by the morning Jack has recovered enough to be able to attend the church representative. "I'm terribly sorry for the mishap, but apparently we had different priests send multiple adventurers on the same quest. Going by your story, however, it's a fortunate accident. You all get the listed rewards, and you can divide the midara's supplies we found. They're apparently some sort of throwable chemical aphrodisiac, according to one of the men. As a last reward, we heard from the enslaved men you fought that the squire here went out of his way to not try to hurt them, so we have an extra gift for him." The representative hands Oliver a formal-looking robe. "These were traditionally worn by holy men, but have become more common wear in recent times," the man informs Oliver.
As a final act, the heroes helps destroy the lewd figurines. The church representative keeps one. "I vaguely recall this image from a book I read somewhere," he says. "I'll have to research why these idols are being produced, and why midara dressed as the devout have been appearing here and there." With a word of thanks, he leaves. The men escort the adventurers back to the village to celebrate their freedom.
