| Hey, I was wondering if anyone here trains in martial arts? I train in a multi-style dojo that does a little bit of everything from karate to drunken fist kung fu. Currently I'm doing a specialization in hapkido. Does anyone else here do any sort of martial arts training? | |

| Closet thing I've done was boxing. Want to learn a good grappling style like Akido, Judo, or Brazlillian Jiu-Jitsu. Krav Maga and Sambo both sparked my interests as well | |

whats hapkido like? It's pretty great, actually. It's this bastard hybrid of karate, taekwondo, judo, and aikido, and all in all it's very versatile and rather fun. Lots of cool little tricks around the place, and it all flows together really well. Funny thing, actually; it's the chosen martial arts style of professional bodyguards in Korea. - CwHart wrote:

It's funny you mention aikido and judo; hapkido uses both of them (as I just mentioned) and if you want to learn at least the basic applications of both, I'd suggest picking up some hapkido if you can. It takes the techniques of judo and aikido and adds strikes to them. In pure aikido and pure judo, there is no striking; only join manipulation (aikido) and throwing (judo). - Mkmd13 wrote:

HAHA yeah, sorry bout that. I must've been wrong in the head. That occasionally happens late at night xD Ooh, judo! Been doing a bit of that for hapkido (as I'm sure you could infer from above) but I don't know anything about Moo Du Kwan. Is that Korean? Could you tell me about it? Like, what is the general idea of it? Kick-heavy? Grappling? Throwing? Hand-heavy? I'm rather curious

Drunken Fist? So, is it more than just getting drunk and fighting? Or is it just a name?

| Drunken Fist is an actual style that involves awkward movements and make it appear the person using it is drunk. While cool I always fount it gimmicky myself. | |

| Now I'm curious, I'd like to see it legitimately used. ^^ I've always been curious about weapons, battle styles, and whatnot. | |

| Moo Duk Kwan is born from Korea and it uses every part of your body except the head lol. It teaches you how to kick with the blade of your foot, how to scream properly to intimidate your foe and how to stay calm in every situation you may face.
Basically an all around type of martial art.
