Tianno in the Gilded City

In his neverending quest for loot, Tianno caught wind of a perfect moneymaking opportunity. After his most recent job, a merchant idly told him about Rollatia, a city awash in both semen and Gold, and its Merchant Queen, the woman responsible for its riches who was willing to cut a deal with anyone for the right price. Deciding that she could offer bigger rewards than anyone else, the marksman journeyed to the so-called Gilded City to see if he can't do some work for this Queen and get a fat paycheck for his troubles. He stood at the city gates, which hung wide open and had countless people flooding in and out in endless foot traffic.

Well, it's time to get rich. Thought Tianno, as a borderline kleptomaniac, Tianno needed to resist the urge to rob this entire town, given that he had business to hit before doing so, and he better not stain his name.

He took a deep breath, and moved on to enter the city, in a journey to possibly find wealth, or his demise.... this was gonna be exciting.

The man had barely taken 10 steps past the front gate before being approached by a woman with a pen and clipboard. "Hello, there! Welcome to Rollatia! If it's not too much trouble, would you answer a quick survey for me? It helps inform that Mayor about future policy and city development." She kindly asked, although she was talking pretty fast....

"Maybe." Tianno said, not willing to reveal much, best hold on to the knowledge that you are willing to steal half the town to yourself, after all.

"Er, okay, I'll just ask you the questions and you can answer as you see fit. 'How did you hear about Rollatia?', 'What do you plan to do inside of Rollatia?', 'What is your favorite kind of brothel?'' She listed them off like they were nothing, and they mostly were.... except for the last one.

"Commerce, Get a job....." He answered earnestly, for Tianno there was no point in making any story or talking about an urge to get his hands on all that wealth.

To the last question, Tianno really didn't have an answer, sure, he had a "lip fetish", but literally nothing else. "Can you elaborate on that last one, though?"

"Certianly. Rollatia has a mostly unabated sex industry. Instead of outlawing prostitution, it's instead closely monitored... and taxed. There are sex shops of truly all kinds in the southeast district, if you can imagine it, they probably have it." The surveyor explained.

"I see..." Tianno wondered about it, in a rapidly growing city, corruption is to be expected, and if any midara was involved, this would be a way for them to screw him over.

He wouldn't risk it.

"Interesting, but i have no real preferences." To be fair, that wasn't really a lie, after all, how can someone really consider "liking lips" specific enough to be mentioned.

"Oh, that can't be true. Come on, just tell me the last way a woman has blown your socks off. We've all had it happen to us sometime or another." She insisted, and she seemed like the very definition of 'not taking no for an answer'.

"So.... like....." Tianno seemed to stagger for a while, as if he was reaching into memories he doesn't really have, all that to no avail. No matter, he could make something up: "So, last time a woman really 'blew my socks off'? She was a great kisser, and had great, soft lips, to be fair, but it's really hard to say *exactly* why it was enjoyable." He shrugged and sighed. "That's enough?"

"Perfect! I can use that. Thank you very much, and enjoy your stay in Rollatia!" She jotted down all of his answers and went on her way. NOW Tianno was allowed to start his search.

Tianno searched for his bearings as he came upon a chance to make some small, but hopefully easy change. A small arena where spectators could place bets on bouts between midara. The current competitors were a woman whose voluptuous body was only covered by a tiny bikini and a boatload of lotion, and a punk midara who looked like a naughty college girl that had a downright devastating set of pink lips. "Hey, there. Care to make a wager? 15 Gold, triple your money if you win." The organizer asked the loot goblin.

Triple the gains? What was the catch? Generally Tianno wouldn't trust an inflexible "triple the gains" bet, but the ammount of spectators betting here reassured him that this was actually legitimate business (depending on what you consider legitimate), even though he had no idea how it truly paid off for the organizers.


"Sure, i bet on the lotion woman." getting a possibly 30coin profit was more then enough reason for Tianno to bet his ass here.

Much to Tianno's dismay, it seemed the Nereid was even more weak to kisses than he was. The punk bullied her into the corner before pinning her between the turnbuckle and her own body. She maybe could've slipped out of this, but a barrage of lipstick kisses shorted out her will to fight. "Ooh, tough luck, maybe next time. If you're looking for action on a larger scale, find our main arena near the town square. You can even contend yourself, if you don't mind being in the ring with a midara holding nothing back." The organizer told him, seeming slightly regretful that the new face had lost.

"Meh, you lose some you win some." Tianno knew that well, if he got this way, 15 coins would hardly matter for him, in the end.

"Anyway, do you know where i can find a job, maybe regain some things i lost today?"

"The arena is a great place to earn some coin. Some brothels are always looking for male escorts. And look around and you may get offered an odd job if you put yourself out there. Most of the legitimate businesses are to the southwest, while the seedier side of town is the southeast." They promptly explained before going back to managing the fight ring.

Well, that may as well be where Tianno is going next, he needs some extra coin before hitting it up with the merchant queen.

Opportunity, The Makeshift Arena

Tianno followed the directions to find the arena. On the outside it was a nondescript building, and inside, it was a downward staircase with a large, muscular man standing guard over the door at the bottom.

"Welcome to the Underground Arena. It's entirely legal, we call it underground because that's where it's located. Would you like to compete, or would you like to spectate and maybe place a few bets?" The bouncer greeted him, his tone was a lot less abrasive than his appearance.

"I'm looking for money, what pays better?" Tianno said honestly, there should be nothing wrong with a guy trying to make some coin.

"Competing for sure. You get 50 Gold for participating in 3 bouts, and you earn 15 more for every win. However, no bailing out in between, we don't pay until the end. The rules are simple: 1 on 1, no holds barred, but no lingering injuries. Our rule of thumb is if a night's rest isn't enough, it's too far. First one to climax, surrender, or be otherwise unable to continue is the loser. You should expect to face some midara as your opponents, so be prepared. That all sound good with you?" He explained. It appeared like he was used to giving this spiel, but he still wanted to make sure it was clear for the new contender.

"If i can use weapons, yes, i'm in." Tianno said, his scattergun was loud, but wasn't lethal, well, at least not any more lethal then a steel stick, so unless he fights some thumb-sized fairy midara, he should be fine.

"You very well can. Take this wristband, it has your number. When it's called, it's your turn to fight. Your waiting area is down the hall to the left, you can get some refreshments and use the bathroom as you wait, but you better not keep us waiting when you're called. Good luck in there, it's always fun seeing what the new blood can do." He stood aside and gestured for Tianno to go down the left hall, just like he told him to do.
