Sieq vs Neo, Take 2

"For real?" It sounded preposterous... but delicious, he had to at least give it a try. "I'll take some of those, then, if you'd be so kind."

"Alright, just give me a second." the man said before he stepped into the back room. A bout a minute later, he came back with a box, and a little plate with a single cookie dough brownie on it. "Here, have a free sample before you decide to buy." he said as he handed Sieq the plate.

Sieq smiled, accepted the treat, and ate it right up. He fully expected it to be great, what could be bad about cookies and brownies at the same time?

It tasted wonderful, it was like eating a freshly baked cookie with the soft fluffiness of a good brownie.

"Well, what do you think?" the baker asked with a proud smile.

"It's great! I'll definitely take more of these. A half dozen." Sieq told him, knowing he had every right to be proud of it. "Is your wife the one who's in charge of the baking? She does great work, I knew it just from the smell."

"Hey now, I put in just as much work as the misses." the baker said with a grin and mocked being offended.

A woman with long blonde hair and deep green eyes poked her head out from the kitchen. "The cakes are ready and loaded into the cart."

"Thanks, dear." the baker said to his apparent wife. He then turned his attention to Sieq. "I'll meet you out front with the cakes." he said before he headed into a different room, leaving Sieq alone with his wife.

"You two have a lovely shop here, if I wasn't always traveling, I'd stop by more often. Say, do you know anything about the Lady throwing this party? All I know is she has new jewelry, she has just women working for her, and one of her maids gave me the ticket for the pastries." He said to the wife, hoping he wasn't being rude by springing a question on her like this.

"Just what most town folk know. Ah, but I guess since you're a traveler you don't even know that much." the woman said as she stepped fully into the room, revealing her curvy figure, hiding behind baggy clothes and only exposed because of the apron tied tightly around her waist. "All I can tell you is that she had a falling out with an ex-lover and suddenly fired every man that worked for her."

"Ouch... she isn't really taking it out on all men, is she? But... a broken heart can sting that deeply, can't it? I hope I don't draw her ire as well, I'm only trying to help." Sieq replied, mostly ignoring the baker's figure and focusing on the conversation at hand.

"Can't say. The rumors can't even agree on if her lover was a man, woman, or midara." the female baker told him. As she spoke, Sieq's eyes were drawn to some sugar stuck to her lips.

Sieq stared for a brief moment before controlling himself, she was a married woman, he needed to have more tact. "I guess I'll find out for myself, but thank you for the information." He then tried to change the subject. "How long have you and your husband owned this shop?"

"Oh, my. How long has it been?" the woman said as she looked up in thought. "It must have been at least twenty years by this point. My, how the time flies."

"Wow, congratulations! Here's to twenty more years, huh?" Sieq praised her. "Maybe one day I'll settle down like this. But first things first, getting the pastries to the manor." He said. These two were great, but he shouldn't stick around longer than necessary.

"Thank you." the woman told him with a giggle. "Well, don't let me keep you."

"And thank you, too." Sieq took her advice, he shouldn't tarry. Or else he'd be staring at her lips or curves even more.... wait a second. "Did you husband mean the front of the bakery, or the front of the manor where we would meet?" He asked, feeling a bit silly about the question.

"The bakery, silly." the woman replied as she covered her mouth.

"Of course, I'll be right there." Sieq told her as he got a move on to the baker's front. Why was she covering her mouth? Did she notice him eyeing her lips? How embarrassing if she did...

Sieq stepped outside to see the male baker with a large wagon filled with dozens of boxes, presumably all of them filled with cake.

"Here you go." the baker told him. "Don't worry about bringing the wagon back, I'll stop by the manor after we close up to get it."

"Understood. Thank you, sir. And good luck with your bakery." Sieq took the wagon and started carting it over to the south end of town, hoping the manor would be easy to spot.

The wagon loaded up with cakes was surprisingly heavy, but Sieq made it to the south end of town with little issue.

It may have been heavy, but Sieq was a tough cookie himself. Now, to find a rich lady's manor somewhere around here. Best way to do it was probably the old fashioned way and just wander around.

Sieq managed to find the place with little trouble. Standing outside by the gate was the maid who was talking to a tall muscular woman.

Sieq took the cakes right up to them. "Hello there, did anyone order a wagon full of cakes for a party?" He asked them, hoping it'd be a suitable introduction. The muscular woman was a mystery, could she be the noble? Or just a guard? He would probably find out.

The maid turned to him in surprise and then let out a relieved sigh. "Oh, never mind, Amy. This is the guy." she said to her friend before turning back to Sieq. "I wasn't expecting you to show up so soon, so I was just letting the guard here know you were coming."

"I see. Hello, Amy, my name is Sieq. I was looking for some work, and happened upon a maid who offered me some." He introduced himself to the guard and presented the wagon of treats to her.
