The Best Pastime (Ferro v. Dixi)

Ferro sighed through a good stretch as he just got done dismantling a few more dummies during training. It was good to keep oneself in shape, but it wasn't quite enough to really help get better, all things considered. Though he hasn't had much notable action as of late, he knew that he'd need to keep up for when he has to put up with more issues later down the line.
"Maybe I can ask someone to spar with me... Tix again? Or maybe Shiro, if I can get him to stop ogling Anika for two seconds." He offered himself these two as alternatives, in fact, as his first choice was always Dixi. They were often on the same page when it came to maintaining oneself, but she seemed busy and he simply wasn't, so their schedules didn't exactly mesh well very often these days.

As Ferro was lost in his thoughts, he felt a bonk on his head. "You'd rather spar with Tix or Shiro over me? Damn I feel betrayed right now." The voice had a joking tone but it was one that he knew pretty well.

Ferro smiled even before he turned to his jestful aggressor and gives a small tap to her forehead in turn with his staff. "Why not? Tix is all for kicking my ass."

"Tix kicking you ass? Didn't know you were into that, you poor, poor man." Dixi chuckled.

He laughed as he kicked away the beaten up dummies to the side of the room. "Shut up, you dingus!" Good. That's the best way to put it to see her again. "So, you up for another brawl? I need a real opponent or I really am going to get rusty!"

"Ooh? I thought you preferred Tix instead of me." She joked.

"Tam would tear me to shreds if I preferred Tix," he retorted with a chuckle, propping up against his staff.

"And Jen wouldn't?" She replied with a smirk.

He laughed and raised his staff, and answered, "Just shut up and fight me, you doofus."

"You sure? You seem pretty eager to get your ass kicked." Dixi chuckled before taking a battle stance, Ferro could notice that something was different about her, she had different air around her.

Ferro couldn't quite pin down what was different about her, but regardless, it was time to throw hands. He was certain he'd figure her out soon enough, so why dwell on it? With leap forward, he decided to go hard right away with a swift combo. Unfortunately, only one attack made their mark, leaving him off to a poor start as Dixi had managed to dexterously block the first strike and dodge the last.

Dixi: 29 / Ki: 1
Ferro: 30

With a swift movement, Dixi avoided two out of the three blows, Dixi's aura felt more controlled, more refined and her movements added to that feeling or more control. "You have improved but your moves are still somewhat sloppy, Ferro." Without wasting any time, Dixi delivered a quick uppercut aimed at Ferro's chin, sending the monk stumbling backwards.

Blazing Meteor: 52

Dixi: 29 / Ki: 4
Ferro: 29

He regained his balance quickly, gripping his staff firmly. "Sloppy, huh?" With a strong swing, he smacked the back of Dixi's legs and brought her to the floor. "I could say the same for your poor stance."

Trip - 32 (Stun - 88)

Dixi: 28 + Downed / Ki: 4
Ferro: 29

Swiftly getting back on her feet, Dixi gained a defensive position, beckoning Ferro to attack.

Pressure Sign (Avoid attack): auto

He was sure she was ready for whatever he had to throw at her, but for now, he was going to keep his distance. Melting down his staff, he reshaped it into six pellets and launched them at Dixi.
Much to his amazement, every shot landed on some part of Dixi's body. That had never happened before!!

Dixi recoiled from the shear power of the impacts. "Not bad but..." Regaining her balance as quickly as she almost lost it, just as her aura became visible and she rushed to the counterattack delivering a strong blow to Ferro's stomach followed by a spinning kick that sent the monk backwards against the wall.

Fiery Rush: 96

Dixi: 22 / Ki: 7
Ferro: 25 + Stunned

The air was forced from his lungs in that instant, forcing him to take a moment to try and catch his breath and regain fighting condition.

Not giving him even a moment to catch his breath, Dixi fired a blast of energy at Ferro as a wake up call.

Blazing Spirit: 62, 30

Dixi: 22 / Ki: 9

He felt a surge of pain rock through his body for a moment, but he'd had just enough time to get back to his feet. "You're not doing too bad. But I've learned a few new tricks since last time." Using his magic, he created a mushroom. This mushroom sprouted out of the top of his head, but he didn't seem surprised, and plucked it off before blowing the spores at Dixi.

One breath was all it took and she could feel a pain in her chest.

Spore Spread - 86 Crit (63 - Allergen Effect, every time Dixi fails a roll for the next three turns, she'll take a point of damage)

Ferro: 21

"Using magic now? But seriously a mushroom? Really?" Focusing her mind, Dixi cleared her mind trying to put the pain aside.

Ferro waltzed across the room and recollected his staff, reformed after a short time. "Hey, you have your ki, I have my magic. Besides, what's wrong with mushrooms?"

ReArm - Auto

"Good point..." Rushing forwards, Dixi delivered a right hook to Ferro's chin followed by a kick to send him backwards once more.

He managed to keep his balance and not smack a wall this time. "Having fun yet?" He swung his staff at Dixi's head, send a flurry of stars shooting through her head. "Ooo, did I hit too hard?"
