There was little that could hide from the nose of a hunter, and though it was upon a human face that her nose sat, Lily still had all the senses of cat she needed to pick up the stench of debauchery that clung to Midara like the deluded victims that fell for their charms. She'd followed a tip regarding the 'Drowning Cove', a hotspot for vaguely organized aquatic Midara that had a collective love of hoarding and a strong sense of community, chasing it to a coastal spot by the name of Drift Village.

More specifically, Old Man Robbie's house.

Old Man Robbie (everyone seemed to call him that in full) had lived in Drift Village since anyone could remember, always a grumpy, crotchety old geezer who wanted nothing more than to be left alone and firmly didn't believe in the daughters of the sea. When Lily had asked the Innkeeper why nobody had thought to simply try and block up the entrance to the Cove, she'd said something about their tunnel network giving them ways in that didn't involve making the trek all the way down the lonely beach... There'd been some theories, but none of them had turned up true with the exception of a single possibility that couldn't be verified: Old Man Robbie's shed. He hated visitors, and he especially hated nosy people, so Old Man Robbie absolutely refused to let anyone go poking around in his shed for 'fairy tale fish wenches'.

'twas a good thing it was the dead of night, and Lily happened to be a master of stealth. Getting into an old man's shed should be easy, right?

Lily smirked as she made her way to the shed, a simple sneak in and out was her specialty. Making sure she wasn't being watched by anyone as she made her way there as well as keeping all her equipment in check, she was fully prepared for a fight if one needed to take place but she doubted she would even alert the old man

Where others had been turned away by Old Man Robbie's sheer stubbornness, not even his wizened paranoia managed to catch the sound of Lily's deft tools picking the padlock to his shed (man, it was rusty...) and getting inside.

The shed appeared to have been built by Robbie himself in his heyday, but it had gone neglected for decades - everything in here was covered in dust.

Around the corner, tucked behind a pile of old canvasses, was what Lily was searching for. A hole in the boards with a clear rope ladder leading down into who-knows-where, the Midara's secret entrance to Drift Village! There could very well be guards down there, so she'd have to stay vigilant if she was serious about doing some spelunking...

Lily smiled proudly and patted herself on the back for finding the easiest entrance ever, she decided to remove her hood and slowly climb down, using her own midara features to try to sneak past anyone she had to

It kinda said something about this village that the Midara's only confirmed secret entrance was guarded by nothing more than an old man so annoying he drove everyone who tried to investigate it away. Maybe they'd worked a deal out with him or something, who knew?

The ladder cut pretty far down into the earth before dropping Lily into the tunnel proper, torches lined the walls and cast Lily in a tough-looking shadowy light. This pathway was actually pretty narrow, it didn't feel like two fully grown adults could stand shoulder-to-shoulder, so the Midara probably had to come in single-file... Bad news for if anyone caught her like this, there'd be no room to fight! Lily pressed on, surrounded by untold amounts of stone on all sides, oppressively bearing down on her sense of positioning until an entranceway supported by wooden beams finally came into view.

The Drowning Cove

She was in. Lily found herself in a rounded cavern likely dug into by the burrowing Midara. A natural water pocket sat to her immediate left and covered a good third of the floor space, with a rock formation joining the floor with the ceiling sitting at the water's edge, right in the centre. A natural sloping 'staircase' led up to a higher elevation at the back of the cavern where Lily could see an exit, but between that and herself were several stolen furnishings such as tables and chairs... Did the ocean's daughters use this place to hang out and plan before sneaking out into the village? That's what it looked like from here.

Lily sighed at the new base she seemed to be inside, taking down mental notes to explain to her allies above. As she looked around she smirked at the potiential ideas for her own hideout on how to make it look better continuing her investigation as she did "There has to be SOMETHING down here i can use right?"

As she investigated, Lily did find several items strewn about the tables or left carelessly discarded on the floor: Decks of cards, pieces of paper and pencils (the Midara had drawn up various crude doodles or basic maps of wherever they planned to visit, Lily could see some familiar villages circled - Drift Village was definitely not the sea-girls' only haunt), used sex toys and bits of stray makeup... Maybe she could use some of these herself, if she really wanted?

The sounds of water being disturbed easily caught in her sensitive ears, followed by an approaching horde of footsteps! People were coming, should she hide? Fight? Talk? Voices began to echo from the room's only entrance deeper into the Cove, letting Lily know she didn't have much time to choose.

Lily squeaked hearing the foot steps as she quickly grabbed a couple of papers and moved to a corner to hide herself wanting to find the darkest area as fast as she could so it would be harder to see the ninja catgirl

Once she'd formed her little paper nest and hid firmly within it, Lily could only use her ears to make out what was going on in the cavern. Several scratchy, high voices contrasted with a stronger one with a touch more grit, talking about...

"And there's gotta be one up in that big city to the north, I heard their princess is a total perv, so I bet she has a bunch of freaky hybrid babies!" A high voice squeaked.

"Nah, that bitch is crazy and annoying, hard pass. We'll make our hunting grounds out of somewhere closer." The deeper voice responded, the sounds of footsteps stopped in acknowledgement of splashing water. Reverberating, wailing voices piped up:

"But whaaat is the preeey you are hunting, fierce warrior? Surely we might see fit to feast upon their sooouls as well, ehehe...!"

"Beat it, creepers!" Several high-pitched voices began shouting at the unknown third party, but were quieted by what was clearly the voice of their top dog, the deeper tone.

"We're hunting for human and Midara hybrids. Apparently one cruised through here and made a real mark, so I'm interested in what they can do. Guess Sabrina wasn't crazy for wanting a human to knock her up after all..."

UH OH.

Lily softly gulped as she continued listening to the squad hoping they weren't smart enough to notice the papers missing as she realized she just threw herself into a snake pit with her situation now. The catgirl tried to keep herself as quiet and still as she could not wanting to get seen and grabbed in her hiding spot

"Heeeey, where's all the paper? I wanna draw somethin'."

"What're you, five? Bet yer just gonna draw more Midara boys with giant sparkly eyes."

"Ugh, you don't get my art!"

Some of the smaller girls were arguing, but footsteps drew Lily's attention away from their spat. Someone was approaching her hiding spot and was pulling sheets away!

"Hey, I found some over here! Looks like some of it's used, though... Maybe there's a blank one in here."

Lily bit her lip to hide her whimper as she tried to think of a way out using her own spot to move a blank paper further out hoping that whoever was searching would find it first, not wanting to use her handsigns in case it alerted them with the sucking of energy towards her

"Huh? Oh hey, thanks" The Piranha Girl who'd been searching took the blank piece of paper and spun around, walking several paces away before the realization hit.

"Hey, wait a minute..." She slowly turned back around, eyes narrowed and body lowering, she was going to pounce!

"HYAAAA!" The miniature woman jumped on the paper pile and began trying to wrestle it, sliding all over the place and making a huge mess of Lily's hiding spot.

Lily held her mouth to hide her squeak trying to form a quick handsign while she was being pounced on, thinking to herself "This is just my luck the girl was dumb for a second..."

"GUUUUYS THERE'S A CREEPER IN THE PAPER STACK-" The Piranha Girl screamed at the top of her lungs, still not actually having discovered Lily yet. She felt something like a tug, unknowingly having her energies sapped by Lily's handsigns.

But nevermind all that, the little lady had made a hole! She stuck her head in, coming face to face with Lily, leaving her nowhere to look but into her large, red-on-yellow eyes. Staring contest?

Lily yelped softly realizing she hadn't little to no choice as she reacted as fast as she could kissing the piranha girl to silence her

"Mmph!?" At the touch of soft, feline lips, the Piranha Girl's face went beet red, blush spreading out from the center of her face and causing her ear-fins to stand on end. Several other Piranha Girls came to investigate their friend's face being seemingly stuck against something in the paper pile, including that tougher-sounding voice.

"Hey, Knabble, what did you say? Somethin' about a creeper? I didn't hear you over those damn Kelpies wailing in my ear!"

The wailing voices seemed to take offense to that, but didn't argue.

Lily softly purred to try to calm the piranha girl as she knew this was a temporary solution as she quickly formed a handsign for the bigger fight to come

"Mmmm...~" The little Piranha Girl reached her hands into the paper pile to cup Lily's cheeks, smooching back with fervour. Her friends, naturally confused, started to gather around.

"What are you doing?"

"Are you making out with Chuu's drawings, like she does? C'mon, I thought you were cooler than- OW!"

"Shut up! I-I don't make out with my drawings!"


A tall, muscled woman stepped in front of her pint-sized entourage and took a deep breath.

"Get..." She raised one leg all the way into the air, her arms going up along with it.

"SERIOUS!"

BOOM!

Saaku slammed her foot down, sending forth a shockwave that slammed into Lily's paper hideout and blew it away, leaving all eyes on her and the Piranha that clung desperately to her kissy cat. She... Kept going a few seconds longer before noticing.

"Muwah?" She opened her eyes, getting an actual good look at Lily. "Oh right...!"

But Lily's charm was too strong, and she was sucked back into her purring arms. Saaku and the others present watched with intrigue as Knabble melted into Lily's touch, a few of them blushing or cooing.

Saaku took Lily's chin in her hand and ran a long, sharp claw along her cheek - Lily could see similarly shaped teeth lining her mouth.

"...Alright. Fine, I believe you." And with that, she let go and got back up, taking a step away without breaking eye-contact.

"But we're all here to get ready to go on a hunt for human and Midara hybrids, so if you're new in town, why don't you tell me: Have you seen any around?"

From the light being cast around the room by torches and odd crystals fastened to the stone walls and ceiling of this cavern with rope, Saaku was backlit and cast in an intimidating light. The sounds of her hungry little Piranhas and the quiet warblings of the Kelpies filled the silence.

Lily thought for a second before shrugging "How would i know if they are hybrids? outside of asking i guess is there some tell for it?" she asks trying to seem as dumb as she could hoping they didn't have a actual easy tell

"Smell."

Saaku took a deep inhale through her nose, the little Piranhas following suit after her.

"You smell like a human, how many of them did you mess up on your way here?" She was still giving her the benefit of the doubt thanks to her convincing act, but there was no hiding from the fact that her keen nose could smell the human blood coursing through Lily's veins.

"'cause if you wanna come in here, smelling like food, and act like a hotshot, then I might just have to assume you wanna start something." A grim smile came over Saaku's face, baring her weapons-grade teeth for Lily to see.
