Roleplay Thread: The World Called Sharma

Niles continued walking silently for a while. He wasn't quite sure what to make of what he had just been told.
After a awkward minute or so of silence he took a breath and started talking.

"So, lets review. You and your friend got bad touched by a big portal hand thing which brought you into an alternate dimension. You immediately enter queens and spend hours on the run from the native wildlife. Go to sleep in a cave only to find that its full of treasure, then stumble into a sharmite campsite. Now your talking to me."
Niles took some time to roll the idea around his head, still unsure what to think.

"(Another dimension... Weird perverted hand portals... This sounds ridiculous.
...Although...
A race of women who can cast magic by kissing people sounded ridiculous the first time I heard it... I really can't rule anything out based on absurdity these days...)"

If nothing else, Mattew sounded sincere when recalling the story. This is what made Niles actually believe it somewhat.

"(He definitely believes what hes saying. Could be the genuine truth. Or maybe hes actually insane...)"
Either way, Niles would be keeping a closer eye on Mattew from then onwards.

"So... This world of yours. Are there sharmites? Whats it like?" Niles asked inquisitively.

"Well,no,there aren't sharmites in my world,for starters.I'm not entirely aware of the geography of this world,but in mine,there are two big continents,surrounded by an endless ocean,that ends in a big waterfall,where if you fall,you can't go back up again.
We called our world Weyward,and it was filled with life. In there,we live along elementals,some creatures that resemble humans a little,but differentiate themselves with being able to control the elemnts of our world: water,wind,fire,and earth. I don't know if the people of your world can do it,but in our world we-probably for living with the elementals for so many decades- have inherited a little of their power,and are able to manipulate the elements,but not even as close as they can."

"Huh..." Niles rubbed his chin. "Sounds nice."
"Man working hand in hand with nature I mean. We have elemental mages in sharma of course, I even let a friend of mine talk me into some basic training. Never was very good with magic though, we realized I was not making much progress after I set myself on fire... For the third time..."

"The very first time I saw an elemental mage though was in the capital city. There was a festival going on, can't remember what we were celebrating. For most of us it was just an excuse to get out and drink a lot." He let out a light chuckle and continued.
"There were various traveling performers, you know, musicians, dancers, that kind of thing, all fighting for the public's attention. After a few hours a women emerged on the roof of one of the smaller houses. She started dancing, the style was elegant and she was dressed finely but it seemed like a pretty standard act so no one payed her much attention at first. Then seemingly out of nowhere electricity started dancing between her hands. At first she integrated it into her dancing, but after a while she stopped dancing altogether. She sort of... Molded the electricity. Put it into different shapes. She made animals and faces and such. But what is cant forget was near the end of the performance. She put her arms in front of her and slowly sculpted large a sword of ice out of thin air. Electricity started whizzing from inside the thing. I remember being awe struck... And hoping that I would never have to fight an elementalist."

Niles inhaled deeply as the forest disappeared around him. He took his first few steps into the plains.
"Ahh, finally! I was beginning to forget what the sky looked like!" He said with a grin.

"For the third time..." Niles's words made Mattew to laugh a little. "Hehehe,sounds just like me when I first started studying the wind element,except instead of burning I'd probably get launched in the air about 35 meters from the surface...then landing on my head...ouch" He said,scratching his head when remembering the pain of those days.

"Yeah,elementalists in our world did things like that too.But besides parties,they also went on jobs like scouting(for wind elementalists),putting down fires(water ones) and many other jobs too."
"Electricity?Wow,she must have been very talented,only expert wind elementalists are able to use electricity like that,because in the hands of a unexperienced user...well,let's just say they'd be great at conducing electricity,if you know what I mean"

"Finally outside the forest,that helps me a little.I'll scout the area and pinpoint the cave's location.This'll take me a minute" Mattew said. After saying it,Mattew stopped walking,crouched in a strange way,then...he jumped really high. Almost like if he was flying,he kept going up and up,until he was so far he seemed to be a little dot in the middle of the sky. He remained in that position until he looked like he found something,then started heading down almost like a rocket,and before reaching the 10 feet,his speed went down drastically,and he landed like if he had jumped regularly. "Phew,that was a long flight,haven't done this in a while" Then he turned to Nails,and said "Well,being a wind elementalist can be useful sometimes."
"I'd say the cave is around 20 or 30 meters in that way,so we'll be there in no time." He said and resumed walking.
"Oh,I remembered something.Do we have matches or anything like that?Because the cave interiors are like the wolf's den,and there may be some holes in the floor. I can see clearly in the darkness,but I don't know about you,so we better stay in the light.Oh,I know! What about Maria creates a fire and........"Mattew said,but then stopped talking,and a tone of sadness could be noticed.
".....Right....Maria got caught by that hand and we got separated.......*sigh*...I wish she was here...."

Niles reflected Mattews sad expression as he slowly looked down towards the ground. This situation felt far too familiar to Niles, and it was making him cringe.
"Yeah, I know what that's like." He muttered.
After a moment Niles stood up straight and fabricated an encouraging smile. "I'm sure she's fine though. I mean shes from another world, her fighting style would take attackers by surprise right?"
He let himself chuckle slightly. "You two will bump into each other sooner or later. But in the meantime, why not tell me what shes like?"

Mattew looked at Niles,and tried to wash out the sadness he had. "Yeah,you're right"
"Well,she has shoulder-lenght brown hair,as tall as me,and she tends to be really friendly and talkative.I remember having to listen to her talk for hours,although I didn't mind it,after all,I really cared for her.....w-wait,I-I mean as a friend,n-nothing else" He said,suddenly panicking and blushing

"You....know what is it like? You don't have to tell me if you don't want to,but...did something like this happened to you too?..."

"Hmm? Did I loose track of my girlfriend after getting grabbed by a giant hand and flung into another world? Nope, can't say I have ever been in your situation." He said with a grin. Niles had gotten used to deflecting difficult questions with humor.

After passing over a large hill the entrance to the cave was in plain sight. Niles was happy to have a relevant reason to change the subject.

"And here we are. Doesn't seem that dangerous. Then again I guess it wouldn't from the outside."

Mattew smiled when Niles said that "well,if you don't want to talk about it,I won't force you...a-and she's not my girlfriend..." He said,with a bit of embarrasment.

"Well,i'm not sure if it's really thay dangerous,although I didn't went too deep anyways. Guess I'll lit a torch,so we can see inside." He started searching in his backpack,until he took out a big piece of wood that resembled a torch,but somehow it seemed way too big for fitting in that backpack. After that,he lit it with two rocks and grabbed it

"Well.....here we go"

Niles took a closer look at the cave entrance as they approached. Even a basic examination made it clear that the cave wasn't particularly sturdy.
Hypothetically, if the right places got hit with enough force this place could come down around them...

Niles reluctantly took a couple of steps into the ominous darkness. His gut was once again telling him to turn around and walk away, and he trusted it this time. Regardless he kept on going.
"Hey, I know this probably goes without saying... But I've got a very bad feeling about this..." He muttered as he reached into one of his jacket pockets.
He fiddled around a bit before very delicately pulling out a glowing white vial. He examined it thoroughly before raising it above his head. "Alright, cover your eyes." He instructed quietly.

"very bad feeling?well,that makes two of us"

"um,ok" He said,and covered his eyes. "I know I shouldn't ask and I'll be sorry later,but..what is that thing?"

Niles covered his eyes with his free arm before violently tossing the vial towards the ground. As the vial hit the floor and shattered a blinding light flooded the surrounding area. After a moment the light began to fade slowly before settling, leaving the area illuminated a radiant shade of blueish white.

Niles cautious peered over his arm before allowing it to rest at his side.
"You can open your eyes now." He reassured as he examined his now well-lit surroundings.

"Sorry about that. It's a light bomb. A bomb that uhh... Stores light..." He said, rubbing his chin. "Remember that friend of mine I mentioned a moment ago? Tried to teach me some magic? Well her forte is alchemy. A self proclaimed master in the field." He sighed. "She runs a shop in the capital selling various hand made goods. But she gives me some equipment for free on account of my dangerous work. I'm an escort you see. No, not that kind. I guide people around sharma. Keep them safe and get them where they need to go. I'm essentially a bus with a knife. An extremely under payed bus with a knife..." He said in slight frustration.

"Anyway, she'll write me a list of ingredients she needs and I'll collect them on my travels, in exchange she keeps me supplied with alchemical goods whenever I set out. We pool the profits of both of our businesses... Uhh, where was I going with this?" Niles suddenly looked back towards Mattew as if he had remembered something.

"Oh, right. The light bomb. It's of her design. Or so she claims. I tried asking her how it works but apparently "Its far to complicated for someone like me to understand." So she never really explained properly. From what I can gather she casted a light spell then found a way to contain it. Like magic in a jar or something. The container breaks and the spell is released, coating an area in light for a few hours. She claims its not as good as an actual spell, but I can't see a difference. This bomb is supposed to simulate a spring mornings sunlight, which is nice, but they are also really really good at blinding people. Which they do. Frequently."

Niles gave his pocket a quick tap. "I only have 3 more of the things and the radius they cover can be pretty small, so lets keep that torch on hand."

"So,it's like a pocket spell that anyone can use,even people with zero talent at magic.Interesting....remind me to visit that friend of yours once we get to capital city"

Mattew opened his eyes again and examined his surroundings. "Well,by the seems of it,we got three options,we can stay here,where everything is lit,or keep going through one of those tunnels" He pointed towards two tunnnels,one heading left,and one leading straight ahead,but going down

"Now,I'll take a little precautions,just in case we get lost" Mattew said,and started messing with is backpack again.This time,he took a recipient from inside,with a green dust in it. He putted his finger inside,then putted it on both wall at either side of the tunnel.After 30 seconds,they started glowing in a yellow color,in the form of a arrow that pointed towards the exit. "This dust has a very strange property:in dark and humid places,like this cave,it starts glowing.It can keep glowing for weeks,so if we run out of bottle-light spells and our torch wears out,we'll just follow the arrows to go outside.And don't worry,I have a very plenty supply of them."
Mattew then faced at the tunnels,and pointed towards one,then the other,then at the other one again,and again,and again,and again,and again. "...........................great,just remembered I'm horrible at making desicions........"

((I'm really starting to like the interactions Niles and Mattew are having. ^^))

Erick
"It's a funun!" Pinta shouted. She hiccuped again and laughed to herself. "Eyyy, Jazzy, are you Bashrezic?"
Jasmine shook her head. "Not really..." She explained. "But, well, sometimes I'll kiss people who're injured, to heal them. I know it doesn't really count, since it's a spell, but I like to help people."

Lexi
The Oni thought to herself. "Well, you don't exactly have to GO..." She began. "Just remember who's in charge around here!" The Oni patted her own ample chest as she said that. Uh oh, seems like if Lexi really wants to win this tough head over, it's gonna take some effort.

Erick

Erick, now quite intoxicated looked over to Jaz, "thas, uh, thas a shame, you look like a, like a, good kisser" he hiccupd and continued "its a good job I've got pretty pinta here" he trailed off and went back to staring amorously at the succubus

Lexi

Lexi smiled to herself before turning around with her best puppydog eyes "really, you want me to stay" she let a false tear roll down her cheek before smiling weakly at the oni

Erick
"Ehehe..." Jasmine nervously laughed in response.
Pinta smiled, leaned in, and pecked Erick on the lips.

Lexi
The Oni looked a little surprised by Lexi's tear, but sighed and nodded. "It's up to you, I guess." She decided.

Erick

Erick smiled back at Pinta, and then turned to Jasmine, "How much for a room?" he said before reaching for his wallet


Lexi

Lexi smiled at the Oni weakly, "You wouldn't mind" she asked, sobbing slightly "Most people i want to stay with think I'm weird for how I act around girls i think are pretty" before sobbing again and looking up at the Oni desperately

Erick
With a sweat drop, Jasmine raises her arms. "Hey, don't look at me..." She said. "This isn't a hotel, this is a bar..."

Lexi
The Oni sighs. She takes Lexi's head in her hands and almost forcefully kisses her forehead. "Calm down, all right?" She asked. "It is a little odd, but it really doesn't bug me, as long as you don't try to command me to do anything." She kisses Lexi's forehead again.

Erick

Erick slowly put his wallet back in his cloak and asked Jasmine "well, to you know where there is a hotel then,"

Lexi

Lexi sobbed gently before looking up and smiling weakly at her "sorry, its just that people always reject me when all I want is to spend time with them" she hugged the, oni resting her head on her chest

Erick
Jasmine thought to herself a moment. "Well..." She began. "They're probably all around, but I think there's one just down the road, that way." She pointed where she meant to tell him to go.

Lexi
The Oni hugged Lexi into her chest and took a deep breath, trying to help her relax.

Erick

Erick thanked Jasmine for the directions, and turned to pinta, "You wanna come with?" he asked


Lexi

Lexi stopped sobbing and looked up at the oni "Thank you so much for this" she smiled

Erick
Pinta nodded and stood up. She left some cash for Jasmine and clung to Erick's arm.

Lexi
"You're welcome, kid." The Oni replied. She kissed Lexi's forehead again.

Erick
Erick led pinta out into the streets, drunk he may be, but this was the safe city wasn't it?

Lexi

Lexi smiled up at the oni and kissed her on the cheek, "so I can stay?" She whispered excitedly

"Hmm... Okay..." Niles took a few steps forward as he rubbed his chin. "Well, if I was going to hide treasure I would place it as deeply as possible into the cave system, so that's forward." He hesitated as his eyes wandered to the left passage.
"Then again... I would also do the exact opposite to throw people off, so now its left." His eyes darted between the two passages as he pondered.
"And treasure is typically accompanied by danger... So..."
Niles turned back to face Mattew and shrugged. "Forward it is."

"Alright,then foward we-WAIT!!" Mattew was going to go through the pasageway,but suddenly stopped and shouted.

"....abyss...."He said and pointed towards the place where he was about to go into:a big hole in the way,almost invisible due to the darkness "....ok,now THAT was close"

He took out the torch he had and lit it.The hole now was seeable without effort,and seemed to go really deep,there would be no telling what could happen if they were to fall into it.

To the right of the hole,there was a bridge big enough for 4 people to pass through,though it seemed a bit old. "well,there is only one way now..." He said with a sigh,and walked towards the bridge.Efectively,it was very old,but it seemed strong enought to hold on for some more trips way and back. Mattew turned to Niles,and said "Hope you don't are affraid of heights,cause this seems like a hole to the heart of the world"

"Well,here goes nothing" He said,before going through the bridge

Erick
Pinta drunkenly ambles after Erick. ((You really didn't give me anything to work with on that one.))

Lexi
"Yes, you may." The Oni replied. She started to crawl out of the tent, then waited for Lexi to follow her out.

Niles and Mattew
The bridge that Mattew stepped on creaked a little bit, but the construction was sturdy. Unless he accidentally lit the bridge aflame with his torch, Mattew would be fine. It looked like it could support Niles' weight too, maybe even the weight of another couple people, but whether it would hold more than that is debatable. Ahead in the darkness there was very little noise, and whatever noise they did hear sounded somewhat distant.
