Once again, I continue to make girls who are rough around the edges.
Phrin
Appearance:At 7 feet 5 inches, Phrin looms over most other Midara and Humans with her staggering height. She seems to think little of it herself, claiming it to be the average of Sahagin. Her build is best described as lissome; supple and graceful, ideal for swimming in the depths of the seas. Her hands and feet end in webbed claws with deep blue scales running up her legs and arms, eventually fading into pale blue skin. Fins protrude from her arms and legs and a dorsal fin rises from her back with a long fish-like tail extending from her backside. A smaller pair of fins rest where ears would be on a human. Deep green eyes rest on her usually expressionless face that also hide a set of sharp teeth in her mouth. Dark blue gray hair adorns her head, both wavy and long enough to reach passed her waistline with blunt bangs. Her attire is relatively modest, consisting only of a simple faded blue one-piece swimsuit.
Preferred Treasure:Phrin's horde is one of the few within the Cove that exhibit what most people think of when they hear the word "treasure": A collection of beautiful gemstones and gleaming jewels. She is hardly materialistic enough to keep them simply for their value. Rather, she keeps them since the glittering display of the light refracting from the gems remind her of the reef where she and others of her kind once lived. Not that anyone would know about that nor would she be inclined to talk about it.
Personality:On the surface, Phrin appears terse and distant. Her face rarely ever holds any expression besides a stoic gaze and she spends most of her time below the depths, stepping onto land only when necessary. She holds an aloof attitude towards outsiders wandering into the Cove and typically does not engage with them. Those that choose to pursue her anyway are met with a fierce response in the form of a trident pointed towards them. Coupled with her belligerent treatment of those that intrude upon her dwelling, Phrin has become quite infamous (or famous, depending on one's perspective) among the rest of the Cove's girls for being a predator rather than a daughter of the sea like the rest of them.
But a daughter of the sea she is and beneath the cold reception, Phrin yearns for companionship as much as the others. The caveat is that the yearning is intertwined with her desire for a capable partner that will bring her strong spawn. Alas, woefully none of her catches have met that standard. Perhaps that is why she tends to release them to be taken by the other girls so often.
Dwelling:Instead of a room within the tunnels, Phrin's dwelling consists of a shipwreck that rests near the shoals. Almost the entirety of the large vessel is submerged, but the ship's stern is raised by the shallows. This leaves the Captain's Quarters relatively untouched by the sea water which is also where Phrin slumbers. (Don't mind the Captain's skeleton at the desk. Phrin just hasn't bothered to move the remains.) The rest of the ship is accessed by a trapdoor on deck as the openings on the outside are too narrow for most to fit through. At the bottom-most level of the deck is where Phrin stores her horde in secure chests.
Consequently, the ship has become a basis for rumors regarding treasures within the Cove. Many a would-be treasure hunter or looter have foolishly dared to brave the Cove in an attempt to take it for themselves. Yet with the shoals being so further back into the cove, few have actually made it to the ship and none have been able to see even a single glint of the gems Phrin keeps.
"You should have stayed away..."
Passive: Fang and ClawPhrin carries a trident into battle, allowing her to reach her opponent without approaching them up close. As long as she is wielding it, most physical attacks she makes are treated as if she is 10 feet away. Enemies that attempt to use melee attacks against her without a similarly long weapon roll with disadvantage as they must close the distance between them. If they succeed, Phrin is still able to parry the incoming blow, reducing the damage done by half (rounded down.)
Phrin is still capable of facing opponents if she is unarmed. She will have to get up close for attacks, but they can now inflict Bleeding due to her sharp claws and teeth. An attack successfully made against a bleeding opponent has a chance to worsen it to a Deep Wound, increasing the duration and HP lost per turn. Armored opponents are naturally resistant towards bleeding, but must be wary of the damage their armor incurs.
Passive: Survival InstinctOnce she has dropped at or below 10 HP, Phrin will narrow her focus to the fight in a measure to further ensure she does not falter. Her parry now has a roll that will nullify incoming damage on a success and have the normal effect upon failure. The parry also extends to attacks against her at range, although only melee attacks are subject to damage nullification. If unarmed, she will attack with more fervor, allowing her to inflict Deep Wound without a prior Bleeding effect and rip off armor plating more easily.
Seaward Strike:A basic thrust of the trident or a swipe of the claws. Deals 3 damage.
Rushing Wave:Phrin charges forward, aiming to knock her target off their feet. Deals 2 damage and knocks the opponent prone. Armored individuals will roll to maintain their balance.
Spearfishing/Claw Fishing:Only usable on opponents knocked prone. Phrin takes advantage of her opponent's vulnerability and strikes while they are down. The attack rolls with advantage and deals 4 damage upon success.
Into The Depths:Only usable on opponents that are knocked prone or otherwise unable to move. Phrin will unceremoniously drag her opponent into the seas. While underwater, the opponent has disadvantage on all melee attack rolls and some ranged rolls (depending on the method of ranged attack), cannot use fire or wind based attacks, and naturally be unable to breathe.
If Phrin is still wielding her trident, being underwater will require two successful rolls at disadvantage for melee attacks as she has a much easier time parrying them in the aquatic environment.
Unlike the Kelpies, Phrin has no qualms with her opponent passing out from a lack of oxygen. Opponents will have five turns of air before this happens. They may choose to spend their turn swimming to the surface to get more air upon success. More heavily equipped opponents have disadvantage on this roll. They may also spend another turn returning to the land after they have breeched the surface.
Sea Swallows All:Can only be used while both Phrin and her opponent are in the water. Phrin attempts to grab onto her opponent to bring them further down into the sea. On the first turn, the maneuver inflicts Bind. On the second, should the opponent fail to break out, they will be brought back underwater if they are at the surface or brought deeper into the waters if they are not. They will need to spend an additional turn reaching the surface. The roll has advantage on opponents with heavy armor.
Broadside:Can only be used if Phrin is in the water and her opponent is on land. She will leap out of the water's surface and dive kick into her opponent. Deals 5 damage and knocks the opponent prone.
FINISHER: Catch And Release(?):Usable once her opponent is at 0 HP (5 if Survival Instinct is active) or has used up all their turns of air. Phrin hoists her opponent onto her shoulder as they are too weakened to fight back. She takes them away from her dwelling and dumps them into the tunnels for the other girls to do with as they please. If they are under the water, she instead turns them over to the Kelpies to prevent them from drowning. Of course, the Kelpies will do so much more than just bring them back from the brink.
However, should the opponent meet her standard of capability, she will not send them away, but take them into the Captain's Quarters. What will happen to them in there? Well...it will certainly be smoother sailing than the ship they are on had.
This took me way longer to finish than it probably should have. I know she isn't particularly seductive, but some people love a woman who can beat them down. (Or maybe they like drowning...?) I built her as a later/rare encounter in mind since she lives further back in the Cove. In any case, she may need some fine tuning, so any feedback is appreciated.
